Monday Literacy

We have had a very busy Monday in primary 5/6.

Here are some pictures of our active literacy tasks today.

We had a spelling task, followed by an introduction to our new phoneme for the week and finally a visualisation task for our reading.
Well done everyone for your work today 👏🏼

Additionally, this week all children have been encouraged to look for all of the representations of their sound of the week in a contextualised environment – for example the supermarket, on a road sign etc. Write any places and examples of words in homework jotters.

Sounds – all representations of ‘f’  – Genius Gems

  • ‘igh’ – Clever Cookies

ITS MATHS WEEK!! For maths week, everyone should spend as much time as they can on Sumdog. We have a competition running for the number of tasks complete correctly in school and at home for the week – let’s get those points!

For reading this week children have been issued library books. Each book is of a different size – some children will read their full book, others should read 2/3 chapters of their book. Complete a summary of at least 3 bullet points to tell me the main events of the book.

Grammar – please write, at least 3, detailed sentences using show not tell emotions – sentences can be about anything at all – they do not have to be about Wonder.

Children have been issued homework jotters therefore their maths and spelling should be complete in their jotters.

Have a lovely week!!

Happy Friday 😁

Fridays are always a lovely day in primary 5/6 – reflecting on our week, rounding up our learning and enjoying our assemblies.

Today we had a code cracker challenge for maths which everyone fully involved themselves in and engaged with amazingly – well done to every single person 👏🏼

It was so nice to see so many people making such a good effort at home with their homework – I can see the difference it is making to their class work already – another very well deserved well done 👏🏼

Here are some pictures of our tasks today ☺️ Have a lovely weekend!!

Active Spelling

Every day in primary 5/6 we work so hard in literacy. We complete spelling, writing and reading tasks every day – and I am so proud of how hard everyone has been working so far.

We have so many different active spelling tasks that everyone really enjoys taking part in. Here are some pictures of some of our spelling activities 😄

Active Maths

So far this term we have done lots of hard work focusing on place value and number processes in maths. We are currently focusing on rounding to the nearest T, H, TH and even TTH 👏🏼

Here are some pictures of the activities we have been doing this week 😄

Well done for all of your hard work so far primary 5/6 👏🏼
