We love sharing our learning, and in the past have posted class updates and highlights on our main GLOW blog page. To ensure that we don’t run out of space on our blog again, each class now has their own Class Blog. When you go onto our main page you will see a tab titled ‘Primary School Classes’. When you click on your child’s class, it will take you to their Class Blog page where you will find tabs on Class Information, Home Learning and Class Learning.
The Class Information section will contain details about PE days and any upcoming events and dates for the diary. The calendar at the side of the page also contains details on any highlighted dates.
The Home Learning section will contain any suggestions for home learning activities and homework details. We are currently updating our homework policy in line with national guidelines and will keep you informed about any changes so we won’t be issuing homework for the next few weeks as our pupils settle back into their classroom routines.
The Class Learning section will keep you updated about what your child is learning about in their class. It’s where we’ll put photos and blog posts from both the teacher and the pupils.
Please note that we can only share photos of pupils who have a completed Photographic Consent Form for this session – currently only 60% of our pupils have had this form completed for them. The form is on GLOW – please contact the school office for any further details.
Our school GLOW blog and our school APP are our main ways on communicating with parents/carers, so check them regularly as we are trying to reduce the amount of paper information that we are sending home. Thanks for your continued support.
Mrs Govans
Each class will be participating in PE sessions outdoors over the next few weeks, in line with national guidelines. On your child’s PE days, they should come to school wearing their school uniform on top (poloshirt/sweatshirt/blouses/cardigans) and suitable leggings/trackies, trainers and jackets so that they can take a full part in our active PE sessions in our playgrounds.
Any changes to class PE days will be highlighted on the class blogs.

Primary 3 have settled back into school life so well! They have been been working really hard and are having great fun doing activities and playing with their friends. We have been having regular check-ins and they keep commenting on how happy they are to be back and see theirf every day. They created these beautiful Self Portraits that are helping to brighten up our corridor. Don’t they look fantastic?
Last week we had great fun outside helping to beautify the playground. We got stuck in and helped to pull up all the weeds. We even found a few wriggly friends!
Please remember to fill in the photo permission form on Glow so we can post more photos and let you see what the children are getting up to in class.
Mrs Cook
Primary 6/7 have made a great start to the new school year! They have settled in well and adapted brilliantly after a long time off.
The pupils have worked together to create their Class Charter and have started reading the class novel ‘Wonder’. They have also been learning about the planets in the solar system as part of their ‘Space’ topic.
We have been keeping up to date with the news by watching ‘Newsround’ every morning and have been creating some super pieces of work. Take a look at some of our great displays!
Primary 1/2 have had a wonderful start to term one. We have started a book study based on The Colour Monster, this has promoted discussions all about our emotions. We have designed our own monsters after reflecting on how we feel. We also discussed each emotion and spoke about the things that make us feel these different emotions.Â
We have enjoyed making new friendships with the people in our class and exploring our class resources.Â
What a great start we have had to term one in P5/6. The children have settled in well and are already showing off their talents and skills just two weeks in.
We have developed our Class Charter and explored the UNCRC and highlighted the rights that are important to us in school. In Maths we started our Number Talks strategies as well as taking part in lots of new interactive number games online. Our class novel, Matilda, is well underway and we have started our Interdisciplinary Learning topic, Victorians.
Our walls are looking bright and welcoming and jam-packed with our learning already. Take a look at the photos of our Charter, our Queen Victorian portraits and the maths working wall.
Your child will be given a copy of their Annual Data Check on their return to school. Please ensure this is completed and returned to school as quickly as possible.
To prevent paper returns, please read the information below and complete the online return:
Parental Letter – Pupil registration in schools- attendance
Thank you.
Due to the changes in our school lunch service at the moment, with lunches being eaten in the classrooms, it is really important that parents/carers order their child’s lunch in advance through our ParentPay lunch ordering service. We had six children with no lunch ordered today and as our lunches are delivered from Auchinleck Academy we have no facility to organise additional lunches. We will always ensure that every child receives a lunch, but it’s so much easier if all lunches are ordered in advance.
In the past, we were sometimes able to add lunches if parents/carers phoned the school – we now can’t do this so it’s even more important that your child’s school lunch is ordered in advance. Please phone the school if you have any issues with ordering lunches.
Due to pupils in our school suffering from sever nut allergies, please help us by ensuring all food brought into the school is “nut free”. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
We’ve survived our first week back – and what a great week we’ve had being back together.
Special thanks to Mrs Cook and Primary 3 for their wonderful efforts today in tidying up our playgrounds – they had so much fun pulling weeds and cutting hedges! Thanks to Mrs Goudie and Mrs Watt for cleaning up after our very enthusiastic helpers!
Throughout this week we’ve tried various timetables and made some changes to our day-to-day running to ensure our school continues to be a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and parents/carers.
Have a lovely weekend – see you all on Monday.
