Home Circles @ March 2026

In our Home Circles we looked at Article 27 of the UNCRC, which states that ‘children and young people should be able to live in a way that helps them reach their full physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social potential.  They should have access to adequate food, medication and safe housing to ensure their development’.

Our BIG questions were …

  • What are the differences between wants and needs?
  • What do you need to help you grow and keep you safe?
  • What do you want to make you happy and feel better?

Read through our awesome answers below!

Fabulous Feedback!

We were delighted to welcome several members of EAC’s Education Leadership team to the school a couple of weeks ago, for a three day Learning Visit.  This is a chance for us to show off the wonderful learning and teaching taking place in our classrooms and outdoors.

I am very proud to share their report and think it summarises how the hard work and dedication of all staff members, the enthusiasm and energy of our pupils and the support of our parents/carers and wider school community all combine to ensure Catrine PS is ‘a special wee place‘ (a direct quote from one of our visitors!)

Strengths

  • In consultation with the school community, a positive and inclusive ethos has been created, firmly underpinned by well-established CATRINE Values that are consistently embedded in practice and are clearly evident in the daily life of the school.
  • Children are confident, respectful and happy. They show a great sense of pride in their school.
  • The relationships throughout the school continue to be strong, respectful and caring.
  • The whole school community benefits from clear, well-established and effective lines of communication that support positive relationships and shared understanding.
  • Distributed leadership is established, enabling staff to take ownership of initiatives and drive school improvement collaboratively.
  • Catrine PS is widely regarded as a strength within its local community.
  • ASN procedures and processes are regularly reviewed by the DHT and staff,  ensuring a sound understanding of pupil need and a clear overview of intentions.

The feedback also provided us with clear priorities for future focus areas which we will address through our School Improvement Plan, our collegiate training nights and in-service days.

The learning visit was a very positive and informative experience and it’s great to see our wee village school being acknowledged in this way.  Thank you. Mrs Govans
