I have spent the last couple of days looking through all the children’s maths scrapbooks that have been completed at home and I wanted to say a great big well done to all the children and their families who have put so much effort into completing the tasks. Our families have shown great imagination and creativity and I have loved seeing mums, dads, grandparents, siblings and aunties all getting involved.
It has been great to read the comments and hear that, above all, you have been having lots of fun. The comments have also shown that families have enjoyed relating maths to real life.
We look forward to continuing to work with National Numeracy in the new year and hopefully we will have some more ‘maths blethers’ where we can support each other in building confidence and positive mindsets in completing maths activities.
The school closes tomorrow Wednesday 22 December for the Christmas Holidays. All children will return on Thursday 6 January 2022 at 9.00 a.m./9.10 a.m.
P1, P3 and P5/6 will finish at 2.30pm.
P2, P4 and P6/7 will finish at 2.40pm
Catrine Primary School wishes all parents/carers/family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Arty Antonia in P5/6 bagged herself a huge chocolate hamper after winning a competition. Antonia won first place in the ‘Lost Elf’ poster competition run by Shimmer and Shine home furnishings shop in Cumnock. She had to help some elves find their buddy who was last seen in the Rudolph Forest. Antonia’s colourful poster was picked from more than 50 entries as the winner. Kacey in P2 also created a show-stopping design and was lucky enough to earn third place.
Due to staff shortages, both in the teaching and catering workforces, a reduced menu will be served on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you wish to cancel your child’s meal on ParentPay you will be able to do so. Please call the school for any further information.
We are delighted that so many parents/carers/family members are checking out our class and whole school GLOW blogs regularly, and, in line with EAC GDPR Guidelines, we would remind you that no information should be taken from our GLOW blogs and shared with others.
Tickets can be purchased through ParentPay. Barcoded letters can also be provided by the school office. The draw will take place on Tuesday 14 December.
As a joint venture Catrine Primary School along with the Parent Council are running an on-line raffle. There are brilliant prizes up for grabs e.g., 2 x festive hampers, a chocolate hamper, and lots more. Tickets will cost £1 each and can be purchased through ParentPay from Thursday 2 December until Monday 13 December (please remember you will be able to purchase up to 20 tickets – please call the school for any help with purchasing).

Thank you for your continued support for our very different Festive ideas.
With Christmas fast approaching, this year we are more aware than ever of the financial effects of the holiday season on the lives of families in our area. Some families may feel under pressure to show their appreciation to staff in the school and ECC by buying gifts and presents.
A couple of years ago the BBC ran a feature about this with the simple message that thank you is enough. We want to share this message with you again this year to reassure any parents/carers that are worried about affording a gift for a teacher/staff member in the run up to the Christmas break.
