Lending Library

Over the last few days your child has came home with a book along with a feedback form. This is the start of our lending library home link which will be happening for a block of 4 weeks.

Every Monday your child will choose a book that interests them to bring home in their folder with a new feedback sheet. We would request that you return the book and the filled in feedback sheet on a Friday. If there are any problems please let us know 😊

HAPPY READING!

The Big Bedtime Read

To link in with our national book week as the Literacy Champion, I am going to be introducing ‘the big bedtime read’.  This is to support and emphasise the importance of reading books with your child daily, as this benefits their learning and development significantly. Today, your child will come home with their Reader Sheet. We ask that you note down the story you read together each night and return your completed reader on Monday 29th November to receive a certificate of participation.

If you would like to borrow a book from ourselves to enjoy reading a variety of books during this initiative, there will be ones available each day at pick up. If you are borrowing a book, please be mindful and bring it back once finished.

If you would like to read further information regarding the big bedtime read, please follow the link below:

End of year Celebrations

Good morning parents/carers, we want to start off by saying what an unusual year we have had. It has not been the same in terms of allowing everyone into our ECC to meet our keyworkers, have stay and play sessions and most of all to celebrate alongside us with our end of year celebrations. However, I take pleasure in saying even with the restrictions and the uncertainty we have had this year, all of the children have grown and have had the most fun and exciting experiences just the same.

We would like to take this time now to say a massive congratulations to all of our graduates! You have been super and it has been an absolute pleasure watching you grow and develop over these past 2 years. We wish you all the very best and success in moving onwards to Primary 1:

Now, we know it has been a hard year, especially as a parent not being able to see your child within their setting, participating in lots of fun things such as sports days and graduations. All of us here at Catrine ECC thought to cheer you up that we would make a ‘kids say the funniest things’. Now beware, the kids have said some things that may make you go red!! Unfortunately due to absences and then our early closure, we were unable to complete the filming and therefore did not manage to ensure every child featured in it. It was too good though not to show what was completed and edited so sit back, relax and enjoy.

We hope you enjoy the video and laugh just as much as we did whilst making it:

I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone for all your co-operation this year. We cannot wait to welcome all our returners and new-comers in August.

Concept Cat – Week 3

Good afternoon everyone. Firstly, I would just like to start by apologising on the delay of the Concept Cat initiative, we have been very busy within the ECC. I was planning on carrying out the last two sessions within the ECC, however due to the current situation and being in two bubbles I thought it would be best to make it a home link.

Tuesday 12th January

Good morning everyone, it is nice to welcome you back. Unfortunately it is not under the circumstances we had wished but I am still glad to be offering you fun and exciting experiences!

Today, I thought I could create tasks based on something we would have spoken about upon our return. I hope you enjoy the tasks and I cannot wait to see all your hard work and efforts!

Task 1:-

I would like you to make me a picture using any resources or materials you have handy to show me your favourite Christmas memory and/or present.

Task 2:-

After completing your picture, I would like you to create your own story based on what you have done in your picture.

Parents/carers, whilst getting your child to create their story, here are some questions to help prompt them:

Who- who is in the picture?

What- what is in the picture? what are they doing?

Where- where were you within the picture?

Why- why is that your favourite memory/present?

How- how were you feeling? how did this memory/present make you feel?

Also, try and encourage your child to section their story and use story telling language such as in the beginning, in the middle, at the end etc.

Task 3:-

Now your picture and story is completed, I would like you to send it to my email which is posted below. To make it more fun, why don’t you ask your adult for permission to use their phone, tablet etc to take a picture of your picture and story or even make your own video showing me your picture and telling me your story!

CHILDREN IN NEED FUN 2020

Today, in Bubble B we have been celebrating Children in Need. We have been having lots of fun doing various activities. We started off our morning by listening to ‘Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser’. The children then got the opportunity to make Pudsey biscuits, headbands, masks and also decorate their own Pudsey! Not only that, we had a tuff spot where we sorted Pudsey’s spots into the correct colours. Below is a quick slideshow of just some of our amazing fun today!

Anyone wanting to make a donation can do so at bbcchildreninnedd.co.uk as we can not accept donations this year. Hope everyone has a great weekend ♥

Orange Group Blog – 28/10/20 until 11/11/20

The orange group have been learning and participating in lots of fun and exciting things the last two weeks. Some of the things we have been learning about are guy fawkes night and fire safety, forces, puppet theatre and pantasaurus.

April has been mixing paint and glitter to make fireworks.

Demi has been using the puppets to create a puppet theatre show with her peers.

Emily has been working hard creating tickets for the puppet theatre show.

Carson has been learning about filling and pouring. For example, what happens when we fill things up and empty things such as heavy and light.

Thomas has been toasting marshmallows on our ‘camp fire’.

Ayla has been using various materials to create her own fireworks above the houses in the tuff spot.

Riley has been using the construction bricks to create a bridge he can walk over.

GROUP B Halloween Party

The children within bubble B hosted their own Halloween party today where they came dressed up and we got to do lots of fun and exciting things!

Today, we have read spooky stories, played party games, had a Halloween themed snack, dooked for apples and participated in lots of fun activities such as toilet paper ghosts, collage, walk the spiders web, creepy frozen hands and the exploding pumpkin.

This was our Halloween themed snack. We got to eat crisps, a little sweetie and also our witches hats that we made yesterday! Oh, and don’t forget our special juice box.

We read a Halloween spooky story called ‘Witch’. It was so funny, especially with Jan turning the ladies into toads and cats. We all laughed so hard.

This was our huge spiders web floor. We got to walk along it to see if we could keep our balance. We also got to dance in it! Here we are playing musical bumps.

Friday 26th June – Daily Task

Good morning everyone, I can’t believe we are on our last day and then it is our summer holidays!

I felt that today instead of doing a daily task I could provide you all with a summer checklist – you can use some of my ideas or make your own and do new things and challenge yourself!

All I ask is when you do some new, fun and exciting things if you can send them to my email so I can see all your summer adventures!- ealeoni.gilmour@glow.sch.uk

Remember you do not need to do these, they are just ideas for you and your family for over the summer – you can do your own things too! Just remember to send them over to my email 🙂

I just want to wish you all the best over the summer holidays – good luck to our children going into primary 1. I am sure you will all love it! Also, to our returners, I cannot wait to see you all again in August to hear all of your fabulous stories! – Leoni x
