Seed of Changes Event at New Laigh Kirk

A huge well done and thank you to Gaby and Logan from Primary 6 who represented Loanhead Primary at the Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches event yesterday at the New Laigh Kirk.

The theme of the event was ‘Seeds of Change: Caring for Our Environment’. It provided an opportunity to share with our school community the eco-work the school has been taking part in the last year, and our plans for moving forward this year.

Both children presented with confidence and great pride of the work that is taking place across the school.

Thank you Gaby and Logan for giving up your time on Sunday to share the school’s eco work.  All of our school community are so proud of you both.

Road Safety Week

Well done to the children who came to school in brightly coloured clothes as part of our Road Safety Week.

Thank you to our JRSO champions who have highlighted the importance of wearing brightly coloured clothes as we travel to and from school.

Remember to be safe and be seen!

LPS-Remembrance Service

We are incredibly proud of all of our children who observed the one minute silence with total respect this morning.

A huge thank you and well done to Sophie, Violet and Eilidh who recited ‘In Flanders Fields’ as part of our service.

Thanks to Brodie in P5 who shared his

Dad’s medals with us.

We would also like to thank Reverend

Cameron for joining us this morning.

Lest we forget.

Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to all the Primary 6 and Primary 7 children who took part in East Ayrshire’s Cross Country Championship event on Thursday. All of the children did extremely well.

An extra well done to Logan in P6 who finished 3rd in his race. There were over 125 competitors in each race, so this is an amazing achievement Logan.

Active Travel to School

Our JRSO officers were delighted to launch our ‘Shoot to Saturn’ campaign at a recent assembly.

Similar to last year’s ‘Journey to Jupiter’, Loanhead are taking part in ‘Shoot to Saturn’. Children earn one s-mile for walking to school and one for walking home (or cycling, scooting, parking & striding etc), with bonus s-miles earned if an adult accompanies them on their journey to and from school.

Bonus S-Miles can also be earned by children making an active journey at the weekend, or completing the daily mile in school.

Our JRSO officers will be responsible for collecting the number of s-miles earned across the school every Friday, with regular updates on the school’s progress being shared at assemblies.

Look out for our poster on the gates next to the office.

Keep walking!
