Guide Dogs for the Blind

As part of our assembly times we invited the charity that helps the partially sighted or blind to visit us and talk to the childrne about their work.

We welcomed two visitors a helper and his trainee puppy!

This week's Star Pupils with our visitors.

The school have decided that next session we will include Guide Dogs for the Blind as one of our charity fundraising events.

Tea Towel Extravaganza

The Pupil Council want to help with your Christmas shopping so –

Do you want to order the special surprise Christmas gift for Grandparents and other family and friends to enjoy?

Well why not buy a Kirkstyle tea towel!

This novelty tea towel with all its celebrity pupil portraits is just £4.00, any money raised will be used to pay our cooking shopping bills for all the pupils. We have been promised that our first 100 deliver stock will be here before Christmas – so its first come first serve!

( Any additional orders beyond this 100 will be delivered in the New Year.)

Singing at Morrisons

The children in Primary 4 took part in their annual visit to Morrison’s Supermarket to sing Christmas Carols to raise vital funds for the Hansel Foundation.  Their lovely singing voices raised the Christmas spirits of the customers while they shopped and all who attended complimented the children on their performance.  The children and staff would like to thank all those customers, family and friends who donated money towards this worth while charity.

Bag Packing

Bag Packing

Volunteers and Parent Council members gave up some of their free time to bag pack at Morrisons last weekend for Parent Council funds. The event was a huge success and the Parent Council donated £600.00 to the Palace Theatre pantomime fund and reduced the cost of everyone’s ticket and transport. A huge thank you must go to the small band of volunteers who turned up; without these people the fund raising would not be possible. Remember no matter how little any support offered is welcomed and reduces the work for the few – “Many hands make light work!”  as the saying goes.

Switch off fortnight!

Switch off fortnight!

The Eco Warriors & Eco Committee met with Miss. Davers during Assembly time and have undertaken some auditing tasks to get us switching off and not wasting energy on standby. They have visited classes and corridors; adding stickers and signs to remind everyone to switch off – perhaps you could try this at home!

Rag Bag

We are pleased to announce that the monies raised by this committee through the Rag Bag recycling has been sufficient to pay for the Nativity costumes last year and in addition purchase the Pantomime costumes for this year’s upper school performance. Both sets of these costumes will be used year in year out, depending on performances so well done to the pupils involved and thanks for your old clothes donations, keep them coming.

Cooking for Pudsey

As part of children in need fundraising, Kirkstyle cooking classes teamed up with their business partners Asda.  Asda provided Mrs McKenna’s budding chefs with Pudsey shaped cutters.  The younger classes designed chef  hats and decorated biscuits, the upper classes had a free reign on their own design for Pudsey. The winning entrants of the biscuits design headed off to Asda for an official presentation from none other than Pudsey himself.

Pictured below are our budding chefs wearing  their hats and the winning entries from Taylor , Alana  and Lara.

School Panto

The children in Primaries 4 to 7 had a wonderful time entertaining parents, family and friends in this year’s pantomime.  They really enjoyed making costumes, scenery, learning their lines and songs.  A fantastic time was had by all.
