ASDA set the pupils of primary 5, 5/6 and 6 a challenge to create Mothers Day card, they provided the pupils with the card and left them to their own creative thought. Mrs MacKinnon took each class for a handwriting session and the pupils practised their flicks and joins in a poem for the inside of the card but the outside was up to them. Three winners received a bouquet of flowers for their Mums and an Easter egg for themselves. Well worth the effort!

Cook Book Business Venture
The Primary 5/6 enterprise team would like to encourage all budding cooks to upload or send in their recipes for the Kirkstyle Cookbook.
The pupils had a successful day at the Fayre selling a variety of tasty soups and biscuits. Individual portions of; ready to eat Cream of Mushroom and frozen two people portions of pea and ham, lentil and leek & potato soup and the always popular Empire Biscuits prepared with the help of some Primary 1 pupils.
The pupils have added these recipes to their cook book business venture and ask that you do the same. You can upload your own recipe using the template on the website OR send your recipe to school and the managers will type it up and submit it for you.
During the Spring Fayre the business team took a couple of orders but are still on the lookout for more recipes and hopefully plenty of orders.

Here come the Vikings
Primary 5 and 5/6 were researching the Vikings last term. They painted a Viking scene for the classroom walls, built a Viking Longship, visited Vikingar at Largs, presented in words and music Viking Life and that’s only a small part of their experiences.
The Walls
Viking Longships
As enterprising homework the children were given 5 weeks to design and build – with adult help- a Viking Longship. The results were staggeringly good, as I’m sure those of you who were in school for parent’s evening will agree.
These pictures are just a small sample:
Vikingar the experience
If you are interested in Vikings then a trip to Vikingar in Largs is a must. The children split into 2 groups and while one was visiting the Longhouse and Halls of Valhalla the rest were meeting a Viking and dressing up as the poor and rich of the time.
- They wore animal furs to keep warm.
