Spin that Spinner!

Today we combined digital technology with our literacy lesson on clarifying word meanings and got active in the classroom! The groups at the tables worked together with a chapter from our class novel to highlight words that they didn’t know. They then used clues from within the text to try and work out the meanings without using a dictionary. Each group also had a chance to work at the interactive board where they could spin one of the words and then spin a task such as ‘act it out’, ‘look it up race’, ‘spell it’. It was agreed this was a fun way to learn the meanings of words!

The children were using important life skills such as using their initiative, communicating, collaborating, sense-making and creativity.
