🌺 Remembrance Day at St Joseph’s 🌺

This week, our school community came together to mark Remembrance Day with reflection, creativity, and respect. ❤️💛

On Tuesday, each class observed a two-minute silence to remember all those who have died or suffered as a result of war and conflict. Every pupil sat quietly and respectfully, thinking about the importance of peace and gratitude for those who have served.

In RERC with Miss Lisi, our P1–4 class learned about why we wear poppies, exploring what the different colours represent – red for remembrance, purple for animals who served, black for fallen Black servicemen and women, and white for peace. The children then created their own beautiful poppy designs using these colours. 🌺✨

On Wednesday, Donna Westbrook and Natasha joined us for a wonderful creative session with the whole school. Together, we made handprint poppies, each decorated with words and phrases about remembrance and peace. These will be crafted into two class wreaths – a special way to show our school’s collective respect and reflection. ❤️

On Sunday (9th November), members of our parish community gathered for a two-minute silence, where war veterans laid wreaths at our cenotaph before our usual Sunday Mass. During Mass, we remembered those who have died in war and those who continue to suffer and serve in conflicts today. Some of our school children were present for this meaningful act of remembrance and prayer. 🙏

As always, we are so proud of how our pupils show respect, compassion, and understanding on such an important occasion. 🌺
