16.2.26 – 6.3.26 – This week’s blog is by Lola and Hallie!
We went to the woods and we searched around to see if there were any signs of Spring. We saw some flowers beginning to blossom. – Lola & Hallie

We were so lucky that we got to have pancakes on Pancake Day! – Lola

For our last gymnastics session we made up routines to show the class. – Hallie









We have been doing some work on time and some other maths activities. – Lola








There have been different maths activities going on in class. My group were picking 2 cards and then we had to times them together. – Hallie















Lots of people were interested in jigsaws last week during wet playtime. Ruairi and Angus also made a den outside. – Lola
















We have been doing some football with Fraser from Queen of the South! We were practising dribbling, passing and shooting! – Lola & Hallie























We have been making a space report to finish off our topic. In groups we acted out doing a news report. – Lola










For soft start, we have been making loom bands. I made a bracelet! – Hallie




We’ve been choosing a card with a picture on it and writing sentences describing it. The P1’s were writing words. – Hallie






















For Acts of Kindness day the blue class wrote everyone a nice message on a heart and gave it to them. – Lola
Some children went with Mr T to the children’s ward at the hospital to deliver the presents we got them that we raised from our Christmas night. – Lola










I had a go at some finger crocheting at school. – Shola

I made ‘the life cycle of the ocean’ at Stranraer for a biology class. – Lola


Jesse came 4th in a badminton competition from the whole of Nithsdale! – Lola
Miss Cochrane came in and taught us some coding on ‘One Hour of Code’. – Lola
We learned how to get onto the laptops and get onto Glow. We then emailed each other. – Hallie















We were making monsters for a competition called ‘Monster Mayhem’ and someone will win a surprise goody bag. – Hallie



We have been doing some reading comprehension with our new cards. We were also using personification to make objects better. – Lola











We were learning about our rights in school.




We were writing and drawing positive and negative emotions. – Hallie


For our new topic reduce, reuse and recycle, we were sorting objects into the right places and we made a poster of the definition of each one. – Lola




Mrs McCubbin littered all over the class then we sorted them out into the right places. We then cut out the objects and put them in the right bin. There was the normal bin, compost bin or recycling bin. – Hallie









We made Chinese puppet dragons. We used paper and different materials. They can shrink and expand. – Lola


The sun came out and we went outside for a game of dodgeball! – Hallie




The P5-7’s went to Springholm for a day of singing and dancing the Scottish Opera. At the end our parents and carers came to watch our performance. I enjoyed doing this, we even got costumes but it was very tiring. – Lola















We got to dress up in costumes for World Book Day and everyone had to guess who we were. Asa’s was the hardest! We had a mystery where we were finding out who stole the books – the Gruffalo stole the books! We made a book cover and then we talked about our favourite book each. We dressed up as Dog Man and Glinda! – Lola & Hallie








































9.2.26 – 13.2.26 – This week’s blog is by Ella and Fergus F!

The school value this week was independence and Lola and Rosie won it! Bessie and Jaxson got Pupil of the Week!
We built bird camps so we could sit and watch the birds for the Big Bird Watch! It was very windy and hard to put up the dens for some people. We saw a lot of birds! – Ella & Fergus

We made space posters with facts about space. My group made it about Jupiter and Saturn and we printed out pictures of our planets and made them 3D. – Ella




We were making rockets out of Lego and Duplo. We then drew them after and showed the rest of the class. My one was very big! – Fergus























We were reading different food packaging and traffic lighting them to see if they were healthy or not. – Ella







We made the planets using paint. – Fergus



I made the Solar System out of coloured foam at home. I learned that Uranus has a ring around it. – Lola
James came in to talk to us about business and enterprise from our Christmas Celebrations evening. – Ella

For Safer Internet Day there was a live show that was talking about artificial intelligence. We were doing worksheets, playing a safety game and also made up some dramas about being mean to people online. – Ella

















We were doing some gymnastics. I managed to do 4 forward rolls in a row! – Fergus








For assembly the P7’s were reading the Good Samaritan Story with Reverend Peacock.
2.2.26 – 6.2.26 – This week’s blog is by Shola and Fergus H!
We have salmon eggs at our school. Morag came in to talk about them and learn more about their life. She showed the different types of salmon. We were drawing pictures of the salmon and doing some puzzles. She brought in little fish that we looked through a microscope. – Shola



























The eggs have now hatched and they have started swimming!
We made stars by stabbing holes in the black paper and then put the torch behind it so you could see the light shining through. It was cool! – Fergus


We were ordering the planets and coming up with mnemonics for them. My one was ‘My Mother Only Served Us Nine Pizza’s’. – Shola


We had the frame out for gymnastics, we were climbing over it and doing balances on it. – Shola
Jenny was helping our class with gymnastics. I liked jumping off the boxes. – Fergus

19.1.26 – 30.1.26 – This week’s blog is by Jenny and Zara!
We were making bird houses by using recycled bottles and then painted them! I painted different coloured flowers on it. – Jenny
My one was like a rainbow! We then put them in the trees! – Zara



















For gymnastics I managed to do a teddy bear roll for the first time. We were jumping onto the horse using the spring board! – Zara
I was able to do a cartwheel on the beam and also a straddle onto the vault! – Jenny

I drew a picture of my similes I used. I also made a word search for my homework on Space and then everyone had a go at trying it out. – Ainsley

We were finding out facts about all the planets in Space. Each group got a different planet, my group had Neptune. – Zara

We had a preschool fun afternoon where preschoolers could come in and visit. We had building activities, puppet making, den building and stop motion on the iPads. – Jenny

We have been been playing tennis and practising our racket skills. Rosie and I were in a group and we named our ball Diddle. – Zara



We have started practising and learning the songs for the Scottish Opera coming up that we are going to next month. Every school has a different country and our one is India. – Jenny


We were making the different moon phases in groups using Oreos. We even got to eat one after! – Zara











We were learning about the solar system. The sun is in the middle and we were putting where each planet goes around it and how close. I was Uranus. – Jenny










We had a video chat with an English school who’s topic is Scotland. Some people said their Scots poems to them. I said my one to them! – Zara





The P7’s got their leavers jumpers. We are so happy! – Jenny


We went to Dalbeattie School for Jigs and Reels. We took part in some Scottish dancing with lots of different schools. We both enjoyed this. – Jenny & Zara






The P5-7’s had Ruth come in to do some clay models with us. We were making birds for her exhibition, I made a penguin. We also made monster faces to take home! – Jenny























We have been working together to make up our behaviour policy. – Jenny






We were making new football tops for Queen of the South FC. They decide who the winner is out of all the schools then they’ll make the new top for the team and wear it. – Jenny & Zara





We have stuck our planets onto black paper and added more detail with oil pastels. – Jenny






Dougie Doonhamer came to visit us from Queen of the South FC. He gave us all a free ticket to Saturday’s football match. – Jenny

12.1.26 – 16.1.26 – This week’s blog is by Devyn and Angus!

This week’s school value is kindness and Jenny and Isla won it! Ainsley and Rosie got Pupil of the Week!
We were making bird food for the birds! We mixed grass seeds with butter to make balls to hang on the trees. We also put cheerios on string for them. – Angus


























We have been crocheting for soft start! – Devyn





Mr T’s son came in and built our new tuff trays for outside!



For gymnastics, Ross came in and I managed to do a back walkover on a flat mat! – Devyn

We were making planets hot and cold using paint. We are going to cut them out and stick them on black paper. – Devyn

We had a Curlew Rights Meeting today. We were talking about how much we raised at the Christmas celebration evening and the pre-school afternoon coming up. – Devyn

5.1.26 – 9.1.26 – This week’s blog is by Jaxson and Bessie!

This week’s school value was independence and Shola and Arlo won it! Mirren and Angus got pupil of the Week!
For soft start this week we have been making things with paper, Asa and I made a robot. Other things going on were Microbits and knitting. – Jaxson
We were building JCB’s and trucks, we were also threading beads on the pipe cleaners. – Bessie











The P1’s were doing number work and we were playing a loop game where you answered the question for the next card, it looks like an ambulance. – Bessie




We were rolling 3 dice to make doubles questions. – Jaxson
We made pictures of ourselves and wrote what our goal was for 2026. – Bessie
We also made these and a vision board for the new year, one thing my one had is that I want to go to Ikea again. – Jaxson













We were making shape buildings form drawing around the shapes in the class. We traced round them in oil pastels. We are going to paint them soon. – Bessie













We were making optical illusion pictures. We used a ruler to make sure they were straight lines. We then coloured them in. – Jaxson

We had some snow arrive! I made snowballs. – Jaxson

We were practising balancing with the racket and bean bag. We then threw them across the room to see who would get the furthest. Alexander got the furthest! – Bessie




I made space bark for our topic space. Space bark is a bunch of chocolate melted down and then you swirl it with coloured chocolate, you then leave it to set in the fridge. After that you break it all with your hands. I brought it in for everyone to try! – Asa
