6.10.25-10.10.25 – This week’s blog is by Mirren and Rosie!

The school value this week was kindness and Zara won it! Jesse and Ruairi got Pupil of the Week!

The P7’s went to Operation Safety at DG1. We learnt about bonfires, electricity safety, online safety, ABC and recovery position with the ambulance, youth work and fire safety in your house. I learned a lot from this and I liked the part with the ambulance man because he was funny! – Jesse

Group 3 were writing big number. – Rosie

Blue class have been making their spelling words using Play-doh. – Mirren

We were making dramas of Plop the barn owl. My group done the middle part of the story and I was the cat who spoke to Plop. – Rosie

We were doing place value in maths. Some people were ordering numbers with chalk. We also played a game where you round the number to the nearest 10. – Mirren

The P1’s were making necklaces using string and little shapes with holes in them. – Rosie

We were making spicy peaches based on the book ‘Holes’. We added clovers, cinnamon sticks, apple cider vinegar, salt, sugar and peaches. The taste was very strong. – Mirren

We were playing different games on Tuesday for a fun afternoon. We had to make sure we were following the rules and playing well together. My favourite game was Uno. – Mirren

My favourite game was Cluedo. – Rosie

We were putting the different words together so they made sense for a sentence then copied it out onto a whiteboard. – Rosie

The P1’s have been making words using their sounds. They have also been finding things in the classroom beginning with that letter. – Rosie

We were making circuits for our electricity topic, my circuit lit up. We also had to draw circuits using straight lines. – Mirren

Bobby has now moved up to the purple karate belt!

We made leaf kebabs using leaves and sticks. – Jesse

The P1’s have been matching the number to the picture with the right amount. They were also making cube towers with the right amount it says on the card. – Rosie

We were playing some football for PE. We played a game yellow class against blue class and blue class won! We were also taking shots into a goalie. – Mirren

I got my goal in! – Rosie

We made a responsibility tree for the community, home and school. For home I wrote ‘I am responsible for feeding the cat.’ – Mirren

The yellow class taught us animation on the iPads. We made little videos and got to draw on the iPads. We also added backgrounds and sounds. My one was when a square was going in or out and getting smaller. – Mirren

I got to sit in the teachers chair, my group had rainbow stuff in it. – Rosie

Jesse’s mum and the college students came to paint to shed with our ideas we gave them. I think it looks brilliant! They are coming back after the holidays to do the finishing touches. – Mirren

My favourite part is the bumble bee! – Rosie


29.9.25-3.10.25 – This week’s blog is by Ella and Ruairi!

The school value was honesty and Asa and Isla won it! Jaxson and Fergus got Pupil of the Week!

I got a medal for gymnastics for passing level 3 floor! – Jenny

I made a picture of Remi from ‘Kpop Demon Hunters’. I also made a farm picture with chickens and ducks. – Zara

We were making bridges out of Kapla! I also used 2 metre sticks. – Ella

We were making our spelling words out of Play-doh! – Ella

The P1’s were practicing their numbers! – Ruairi

The blue class were doing different activities for maths. We were playing Topmarks on the laptop and place value activities inside and outside. – Ella

Some of the yellow class were also on Topmarks. We got to write on the table with special pens of different numbers split into hundreds, tens and units. – Ruairi

It was my birthday and I made a picture of cars. – Angus

I made the Loch Ness Monster out of just tin foil! – Asa

Some people got their trophies from the Shawhead Show!

We done a carousel of activities outside for Holes. We had a scavenger hunt in the sandpit and on the field. We transferred the water from one bowl to another. We played an unlucky and lucky game. We also built some dens. – Ella & Ruairi

The school value this week was independence and Lola and Bobby won it! Shola and Rosie got Pupil of the Week!

Reverend Peacock came in to talk about different types of cards you give people. This was for Harvest. – Ella & Ruairi

We were creating houses out of colourful sticks. – Ruairi

The blue class were making responsibility posters to see how we can be responsible at school and at home.

We were making posters for electricity safety. We also got to use the electric circuits. My one lit up a light. – Ruairi

For active schools we were balancing bean bags on our head. We were having different races and Ella forgot how to skip! We also played different games. – Ella & Ruairi

We had an open afternoon for our families to come in. We had a Kapla challenge to build the tallest tower, the parents had to do a P7 mental maths sheet and we also made stop motions with the iPads. – Ella & Ruairi

For gymnastics I got a medal for beam level 1. – Zara

I got a medal for vault body press! – Isla

We made the biggest tower we could using Kapla. Jesse and Devyn won! – Ella


15.9.25-26.9.25 – This week’s blog is by Jenny and Alexander!

The school value was effort and Mirren and Zara won it! Jenny and Bobby got Pupil of the Week!

I won a horse show. This was my first time doing a show outside. I was on Maximus, my horse! – Bessie

We had a hockey taster session. We were practicing dribbling our ball by pretending they were a puppy and we were taking them on a walk! – Jenny & Alexander

The P2’s were playing maths dominoes! – Alexander

Breakfast Club fun!

We were acting out Plop the Owl and words from the book. Our word was ‘wonderful’. – Alexander

We went in pairs and had to research about rattlesnakes and then we made a warning sign about them! – Jenny

We were building things with the Kapla! – Alexander

We went to the woods for a scavenger hunt. Some of the stuff we had to find was a feather, acorns, a hole in a tree and footprints. – Jenny & Alexander

The P1’s were doing different activities for maths. – Alexander

Hallie and Mirrens dad came in and helped us get our sandpit looking a lot better. Thank you very much to him, we appreciate it! Thanks as well to both of the Hiddleston’s dads for helping transport the sand from the car park to the playground to the sandpit!

We traced around some lizards and we coloured them in. They are the Yellow Spotted Lizard. – Jenny

We were making Plop using oil pastels, pencils and paint! – Alexander

For active schools we were bouncing the ball into the hoop to get points, the smallest hoop got the most points! – Alexander

We also tried doing different throws and seen who could get it the furthest, I was with Ella and we won both times! – Jenny

We were writing our own story for our topic Holes and adding pictures in. – Jenny

We were holding words to do with Plop to help us with our writing. We described Plop! – Alexander

The P7’s went to NWCC for the last time. We took part in different activities, like building the tallest tower and a science experiment. Then we went on the computer and played an egg game. We ended with a nice Greggs breakfast! – Jenny

We have been making hats, bracelets and blankets using wool, crochet hooks and cardboard. – Ella & Devyn

Miss Hudson has left us sadly to go to university! We will miss her a lot!

We have been practicing our Scottish dancing for the Harvest Hoolie next week! Our favourite one is ‘The Virginia Reel!’ – Jenny & Alexander

We had dice and flipped them 3 times and whatever number we got we wrote them down. We then wrote information about the number. – Alexander

For maths week we went to the woods to collect sticks, acorns and leaves. We took them back to the playground and made pictures with symmetry! – Jenny & Alexander

We split the paper into 7 bits because there are 7 chapters in the book. We then drew what happened in each chapter. – Alexander

The P4-7’s went to the college to see what the students have designed for our shed mural. We wrote down what ones we liked the best! My favourite was the one where the animals were going down a rainbow slide to school. – Jenny

We were lining the cars up in their colours to make a graph. – Isla

We were making stop motion films. We could make our film about anything. We could use toys and different backgrounds, we also could use a voice over. My film was about Superman and Batman fighting and then a spider came and Batman got scared. – Jenny

I used knights for mine and also Spiderman and Batman. They stole each others diamonds. – Alexander


8.9.25-12.9.25 – This week’s blog is by Asa and Bessie!

The school value this week was kindness and Jesse and Bobby won it! Ainsley and Bessie got Pupil of the Week!

We were making thank you cards for people who come in and help out around the school. – Asa & Bessie

The P1’s have been making their sounds with Play-doh and practicing writing their numbers. – Bessie

We put keys onto our map for Camp Greenlake. Camp Greenlake is a detention camp from the book ‘Holes’. – Asa

We made Plop the owl using black paper, cotton balls for the fluff and we used pink tissue paper for the legs. – Bessie

We made our Camp Greenlake maps outside with the younger class in groups. using stuff like chalk, sticks and stones. We had to put our key in there as well. – Asa

We used cones as the tents. – Bessie

This maths group were doing some place value. They had to split up the number into hundreds, tens and ones. They got to write on the table with special pens. – Asa

For our electricity topic we made some circuits that powered lights, motors and a loud speaker. We also started painting our crazy pipe designs with water colours. – Asa

We made lighthouses and cottages using recycled rubbish. We also used tape and coloured paper to put it together. I used a milk carton, ice cream boxes and egg cartons for my one. – Bessie

Me and Hallie were matching the picture to the word. – Bessie

We were reading a description for Holes on Stanley’s first day then highlighting in different colours things like similes, alliterations, interesting punctuation, Stanley’s thoughts and feelings and sentence starters. – Asa

We had active schools in to do football with us. We played a game where we had to tackle each other and get the ball. When he shouted ‘stop’ you had to swap balls with another person. – Asa

We were walking around with the ball and when we got to a green cone we ran fast, an orange cone we walked and a red cone we stopped. – Bessie

For digital learning, we made filters with Plop on the iPad with a background and a sound. We then connected to the board and showed everyone. – Bessie

We’ve been doing Microsoft Word, we downloaded some pages on hamsters and we got to have a play around with making the pictures bigger or smaller, highlighting bits of pictures we wanted to keep and what we didn’t want to keep and adding bullet points. – Asa

We were making dramas of Holes. We had little scenes to do, my group had a scene of other boys mocking, helping or ignoring Stanley. – Asa

We were walking around the classroom with our puppets and when we stopped we said ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ to another puppet in French. – Bessie

For French we had the puppets and they were talking to each other. We learned how to stay ‘I am from..’ ‘Where are you from?’ ‘I live in..’ – Asa

We got to build something out of our imagination out of Kapla. I built a domino train. – Asa

At playtime they were playing with giant Jenga that Mr T kindly brought in. – Asa

The P7’s went to NWCC for team building. They were playing rugby and here is a picture of Jesse charging at the tackle bag! – Asa


1.9.25-5.9.25 – This week’s blog is by Lola and Zara!

The school value this week was independence and Jenny and Alexander won it! Asa and Arlo got Pupil of the Week!

For maths our group was rolling dice to make numbers up 10 million, then saying them out loud and adding to them. – Lola

We rolled 3 dice to make up a number and then collected the hundreds, tens and ones. – Zara

Group 2 were making puzzles of animals and words to match. – Zara

We were doing active spelling and Mirren made the word ‘comic’, this is one of her spelling words. – Lola

We were making dens for Plop the owl from the story ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’, the yellow class are reading that story just now. Our den kept falling down but we were being resilient and not giving up. He had 2 secret rooms, a toilet and 3 bedrooms. – Lola

Our one kept falling down as well, we had a couple of issues with spiders in it! We had a bedroom and 10 acorns for his breakfast, lunch and dinner. – Zara

We made a timetable for our class so we know everything that is going on in our week and we can keep track instead of asking Miss McKinnon all the time! – Lola

We made pictures of Plop peaking out of a tree and I drew a light shining on him so when it gets dark he won’t be scared! – Zara

In PE we were doing some team building in our houses. We had to get the bean bags from the middle and after Miss McKinnon blew the whistle we had to steal the bean bags from the other teams! – Lola & Zara

Before the holidays we made perspective art for our door, I think it looks beautiful! – Lola

Jo Shennan (Jesse’s mum) brought her college art students to our school to help us with making our mural for our sheds outside. We got to draw our ideas down of what we liked and the college students will put some ideas together and when we go visit them soon we will see them. We both loved it and we can’t wait to see them again and their ideas. – Lola & Zara

In groups we were mapping out Camp Greenlake from ‘Holes’. We also added keys to tell what picture is what. – Lola

Miss Cochrane came in to do ICT with us. We were on Purple Mash and learning how to move drawings. We made Plop dance and could add music to it. I made Plop flying on the beach. – Zara

We were learning how to copy and paste a sentence and pictures on Word. – Lola

We were saying ‘hello’ and ‘how are you’ in French using puppets, I had a dog called Spot. – Lola

Our class were also using the puppets to say ‘goodbye’ in French. Au Revoir. – Zara

We were building spiral towers out of Kapla and also an unstable platform thingy. – Asa

They were building a castle that had Lego pizza as well. – Zara

The P7’s went to NWCC to do some more team building. This time we took part in an obstacle course with a tackle bag. We also played a huge game of Capture the Flag at the end! It was very fun! – Lola


25.8.25-29.8.25 – This week’s blog is by Jesse and Zamari

We had a water fight before the holidays. It was a great way to say goodbye to Millie and Jackson! – Jesse & Zamari

I have been in 2 different horse competitions and they were called lead riding. I came 2nd and 9th in them! There were 29 people in my class. – Bessie

I made an apple crumble using the apples from the apple trees at the school. Mr T thought it was very yummy! – Jesse

We were making jigsaws without seeing the picture of it. My group made the lion. – Jesse

We listened to a story about dinosaurs and then made one out of Play-Doh. My one was pink and called Casey. – Zamari

We took part in the Shawhead Show where we drew pictures and did some handwriting. Here are the winners. – Jesse & Zamari

We made some puzzles in groups, my group made Snow White. – Zamari

We all got given a word and had to make it more exciting using a thesaurus. My start word was ‘happy’ and I ended with ‘delighted’. We then coloured it in and it went darker the more exciting it got. – Jesse

We were using the Kapla to build towers and Mrs McCubbin shook the table to see if they were strong enough and none of them fell! We also made some other things with the Kapla this week. – Zamari

I made a horse stable with the Kapla! – Jesse

For maths this week we were playing the dice game, a card game and doing some whiteboard work. – Jesse

We were matching the word to the picture. – Zamari

We went to the woods to explore and show the new P1’s and Ainsley about. I found an egg shell and collected 18 acorns. – Jesse

The P1’s made their sounds using Play-Doh. – Zamari

Lola and I made a castle for her teddy turtle! – Mirren

We were reading and highlighting a text about ‘Holes’ which is our Topic this term. We were highlighting interesting punctuation, adjectives, similes and lots more. – Jesse

We listened to the story ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ then we made lighthouses using oil pastels and paint. – Zamari

We are doing place value for maths. We shook the dice and whatever number rolled we wrote down and then wrote what each number represented. – Jesse

The P1’s were practicing writing their numbers, making them with Play-Doh and sorting the bears. – Zamari

We made some dramas about Holes. My drama was about Stanley going to Camp Greenlake, this is a detention camp. – Jesse

Miss Cochrane came in do some digital learning. She showed us all the different settings we can use on Word and how to use Word better. – Jesse

We were on Purple Mash and exploring the different things we can do on it. – Zamari

We were building towers to see who could make the sturdiest one and then Miss McKinnon shook the table! – Jesse

We are learning about electricity and we drew a picture of all the electricity pipes in buildings. – Jesse

I made a rollercoaster and hired Devyn and Ruairi to help me. I used pipes to make this. – Mirren

The P7’s went to NWCC to do team building with other P7’s. Today we played rugby and saw the gym. I enjoyed it and we got to run into a tackle bag! – Jesse
