Term 3 P6

In term 3, Primary 6 have been working very hard.

In Maths with Mrs Sim we were working on money and budgeting.  In Maths with Mrs Sloan we were working on  train timetables and working out the different times.

Currently, with Mr McCrone, we are now working on Data Handling.

In Literacy with Mrs Sim we are working on writing about a  description about a character . In Literacy with Mrs Sloan we are writing about Robert Burns and Scot’s language.

In P.E with Mr sharp we are working on our fitness.

P5, P6 and P7 have been getting lessons from Feis Rois and The Greystone Rovers Foundation – ‘Kicking Carbon’.   On Wednesday the 15th of January, Joanne came in from  The Greystone Rovers Foundation  for her first session to teach us about climate change.  This is an 8 week programme.

P6 have completed an 8 week programme learning all about climate change and how to reduce our carbon footprint.

On Thursday the 16th of January we had Ben from The Greystone Rovers Foundation, he came to teach us tennis.  Ben will also be coming for 8 weeks, linking physical exercise to climate change.

P6 Curling!

On Monday 18th of November all the P6’s went to the ice bowl for a lesson on curling. They all went onto the ice and started off by doing a warmup which was mainly composed of sliding across the ice with the curling stones. Once we’d done all of that with the stones we got to use an arrow, and after that we did a run up and then slid. Not long after that we got a goal thing, you got a certain amount of points depending on which flap you hit.

So then we had our lunch and then we had to play a bunch of games. These games included: rock, paper, scissors, giant Jenga, bowling with curling stones, sliding with the stones and just having fun in general.

Term 2 food and health with Mrs Brown

For Mrs Brown’s skills academy in term 2 we did food and health. The first week we had to bring in labels from food we eat and see if it was healthy or not. For the second week Tesco came in to talk about what they do and we got to taste some food they brought in like blueberries and tomatoes. For the third week we made Pizzas. On my one I put Mushrooms and peppers but no cheese and tomatoes. For the fourth week we planned a picnic that we would make the next week. We had to look on the Tesco website. The food also had to be Healthy. For the last week we created our picnic. I had a chicken sandwich, some blackberries and a bannana loaf. It was very good and I enjoyed it.

Santa’s Sleigh Technology Challenge

Today our challenge was to design and build a sleigh for Santa to deliver his presents in.

There were some criteria for our design:
1. The sleigh must not be sitting on the floor or table
It must be supported by sleigh rails/ runners.
2. The sleigh must be able to fit and hold the weight
of Santa’s sack.
3. Santa must have a seat in the sleigh.
4. The sleigh must have something to attach it to the
reindeer.
5. The sleigh must be able to move along the floor.

Primary 6 looked at our designs and tried them out in the corridor, then they voted for the best design based on the criteria above.

The winners of the challenge were Fern, Abbie, Poppy and Carrie.

Runners up were Chloe, Tyree and Oscar.

Well done to everyone for working so hard and creating such super designs!

Christmas Show 2019

The Christmas Show this year was performed by all the P5 and P6 age pupils.

The play was called “Bells Ring Out” and told the story of baby Jesus being born.

Each class performed their own dance or drama to go along with the songs that were sung.

We had great fun doing the play and wish we could do it again!

Please have a look at some pictures from the show and behind the scenes!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!
