Here is our newsletter for P6/7. Newsletter term 4 2025-2026

Science in Primary 6/7

Primary 6/7 have been enjoying a STEM challenge. We made volcanoes and exploded them.

We used a plastic bottle to create the main vent to explode the lava. We used washing up soap, vinegar, bicarbonate soda, warm water and food colouring.

Miss Tapner has been teaching us how to draw in the style of Mr Doodle. We doodled away and seen where our pencils took us.

Primary 6/7 have been doing STEM challenges Our latest challenge was to design and create a bridge to hold maths textbooks. The winning team were the team that’s bridge held the most textbooks. Two teams bridges held 20 textbooks, others collapsed after one book book being placed on it.

We also worked on our META skills.

Primary 6/7 has recently attended Dumfries High School for a science afternoon. We were studying whether substances were soluble or not? We got to use Bunsen Burners – which was great! We had a fun afternoon, plus learning all about being safe in a science lab. META skills we used were; communicating, adapting, leading, critical thinking, focusing, feeling and collaborating.

Newsletter term 3 2025-2026

As part of our Space topic, we had to order planets, satellite’s and objects in order of distance from the sun. We first had to calculate each object and it’s distance before placing them in order. This was a hard task and we used many skills to complete the task.
