Guid Nychburris
Today we had a visit from the Queen of The South and the principles associated with Guid Nychburris. It was lovely to see our attendant, Emily in her dress and she was presented with gifts from the school and community council. Some of our children were recognised for their achievements in the handwriting competition and there was a chance for some fun during their visit. 👸👑🐴🎉

Speed, Distance, Time Challenge
In maths we have been working on solving speed, distance and time calculations.
We created our own activities, measured the distances, timed how long it took us to complete each activity and then we were able to calculate our different speeds.
We developed our collaborating, creativity, sense making and problem solving skills.

DHS Science visit
Primary 7 went to Dumfries High School to carry out some science activities. We were learning all about dissolving and the best temperatures for substances to dissolve. We used different chemicals and got to try different science equipment. We really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back. We developed our collaborating, critical thinking and focussing skills.

World Book Day
As part of World Book Day P7 visited P1/2 to work together to create bookmarks. They had great fun developing their leadership and collaborating skills and there were some very creative bookmarks at the end!

Primary Enterprising Maths Challenge
On Wednesday 10th March Lauryn, Lawrence and Murray took part in the Primary Enterprising Maths Challenge. They had to create a poster sharing the history of money and then took part in a variety of maths challenges. They all did very well and came out as overall winners on the day! Congratulations to our champions! 🌟

Internet Safety
On Monday 8th March PC Matthews visited us to discuss Internet Safety. She shared lots of helpful advice and encouraged us to think about ways to keep ourselves safe when accessing social media.

Viking Brooches
We created Viking brooches using clay. We choose the shape which we wanted and then we added detail to our brooch. Once our brooch was dry we painted them.
We used our creativity, leadership and focussing skills.

Maths games
In Primary 7 we all created our own maths games. We worked in groups and had to base our games on questions relating to fractions, decimals and percentages. We all came up with different themes and designs for our board games. Once we had finished our game we all played our own game and then we swapped games and played each others games.
The meta skills we developed were communication, creativity, collaborating, leadership and focussing.
We all enjoyed this because we worked together!
