Guid Nychburris

Today we had a visit from the Queen of The South and the principles associated with Guid Nychburris. It was lovely to see our attendant, Emily in her dress and she was presented with gifts from the school and community council. Some of our children were recognised for their achievements in the handwriting competition and there was a chance for some fun during their visit. 👸👑🐴🎉

Speed, Distance, Time Challenge

In maths we have been working on solving speed, distance and time calculations.

We created our own activities, measured the distances, timed how long it took us to complete each activity and then we were able to calculate our different speeds.

We developed our collaborating, creativity, sense making and problem solving skills.

DHS Science visit

Primary 7 went to Dumfries High School to carry out some science activities. We were learning all about dissolving and the best temperatures for substances to dissolve. We used different chemicals and got to try different science equipment. We really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back. We developed our collaborating, critical thinking and focussing skills.

Maths games

In Primary 7 we all created our own maths games.  We worked in groups and had to base our games on questions relating to fractions, decimals and percentages. We all came up with different themes and designs for our board games. Once we had finished our game we all played our own game and then we swapped games and played each others games.

The meta skills we developed were communication, creativity, collaborating, leadership and focussing.

We all enjoyed this because we worked together!
