P4

ICT

In ICT we have been learning how to use scratch and make at least 2 sprites and a backdrop and also make a conversation between them. We really enjoyed exploring scratch. We also created a fact file on climate change. We had to research 5 facts to add to our fact file. We also have been exploring Microsoft sway and making a sway to do with weather. We made a stack of pictures on Sway where you had to find some interesting weather pictures then we went on to customize and changed loads of things for example fonts and back round or the colour of the font. We also done micro bits they are very delicate so we had to be careful we used the tutorial flashing heart we done our names on them.

 

Literacy

In Literacy we have been doing quick write in the morning. We have quick write jotters to write in Mrs Mcnay finds a sway picture and we do something like describing bubbles to describe the picture. Some of the describing bubbles have things like colour and you write louds of different colours around the bubble that is in the picture. You have to at least have 3 things in each bubble. We also wrote a report on the nowhere emporium we aimed to use as much adjectives and openers as we could to make a good descriptive report. Everyone also did a poem under a rainbow we drew a rainbow and coloured them in the looked wonderful and certainly very colourful.

 

Maths

In maths half the class was focusing on Algebra and the other half was doing adding and taking away in chimney sums. Also we have done multiplying and dividing we done the multiplying in chimney sums.

 

Art

In art we have been doing the London skyline we even drew big ben in it and London bridge. We then outlined in black pen. We even done art with a drawing of a tree we put wishes and hopes and we put things that were important to us on leaves and pieces of fruit. We done a very colourful piece of artwork of a rainbow we used water colours they looked amazing.

 

Health and Well Being

In P.E we have been doing lots of golf and practise for sports day. Finally sports day arrived we all done very well and the best part was that it was super fun. Also we were cheering on everyone even other classes.

 

IDL

In IDL we have been focusing on weather one of the main things were that we looked at was Bangladesh and how it floods. Now we have moved on to food and learning where it comes from.

Primary 4/5

Primary 4\5 have been doing a lot of accelerated reading. We do it every day and we try to do about 20-40 minutes.

As well as accelerated reading we do a lot of mental maths in groups our groups are buzzing bees, spectacular spiders and brilliant butterflies.

In P.E. we have been doing golf, we also did the long barrier.

We read Spiderwick chronicles we enjoyed it so much we lent it to primary 5\6 so they could read it!

P5/6 and what we are learning

In P5/6 we have been learned importance of pride month to the LGBT+  community. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. We have discussed why we are proud to be who we are and why it is important to be kind to others.

In P.E we have been learning how to play rounders and also football rounders.

In maths we have been learning how to use compasses and protractors.

In literacy have been writing a description on the school.

Bridge Building

Abertay University posted a video containing a challenge to build a bridge with a span of 75cm  that could hold 250g.

We had to bring in various recyclable materials that we could build the bridges from.

We had to decide between building a compression or tension bridge.

We then planned out our bridge and decided on materials and the bridge type-Arch, Girder, Truss, Suspension, Moveable, Cable- Stayed and Cantilever.

We then formed partners and began the building. We followed our plan to build the bridge and we used our creativity skills. Some bridges worked whilst others did not so we used our initiative to make improvements.

MicroBits

The upper school have been working with MicroBits.

We have been making flashing images.

The digital leaders in our classes have been helping us and teaching us about MicroBits.

We programmed the MicroBits to show our name as well as making games on our MicroBits.

We thought it was interesting and fun and in order to do it we used our coding skills to programme the MicroBits.
