The Dumfries and Galloway Council Attendance Tracker (available via GLOW) supports schools to monitor attendance patterns, identify emerging concerns early, and evidence timely interventions in line with local and national guidance.
It complements SEEMiS attendance recording and aligns with expectations set out in Included, Engaged and Involved Part 1 and the DGC Attendance Toolkit.
Accessing the Tracker
Inputting and Reviewing Data
- Import or input attendance percentages from SEEMiS BI
- Update regularly (recommended: fortnightly or monthly).
- Check:
- Overall attendance %
- attendance gap
- trends over time
- Sudden drops in attendance
- attendance intersections
The visual layout allows staff to quickly identify:
- Pupils approaching 90%
- Pupils below 85%
- Persistent absence patterns
Identifying Risk Early
Use the tracker to prompt professional dialogue:
- Has attendance dropped suddenly?
- Is there a wellbeing concern?
- Is there a pattern linked to curriculum, transitions or peer issues?
- Are there known vulnerabilities (ASN, care experience, anxiety)?
This supports a GIRFEC wellbeing approach, focusing on understanding barriers rather than simply monitoring percentages.
