Mary’s Meals Earthquake Relief Fundraiser

Mary’s Meals Earthquake Relief Fundraiser

We wanted to say thank you for your contribution our school fundraiser. We made a plan to hold a fundraising event on Weds 8th March including basket-ball tournament, café, bake sale, bric-a-brac sale, games & craft activities, ukulele sing-along, non-uniform day, a raffle to be held on the day and a longer-running Easter raffle to be drawn on 27th March.  We decided that funds would go to Mary’s Meals, a charity already working in Syria to feed children.  Pupils in particular liked the idea that they were fundraising to help other children.  Once the date and time were decided, we set about allocating tasks, asking for support and spreading the word around the community – posters, flyers, emails, word of mouth!

We had a fantastic day!  As well as raising funds for the earthquake appeal, it was great to be able to have a community event in school again after so long.  So good to see everyone; so good to have the primary and secondary pupils working together; but best of all, so good to see the children/young people enjoying themselves whilst raising funds for such a good cause.

Our ‘finale’ took place on 27th March when we drew the Easter raffle and presented a cheque to Mary’s Meals.  In all, we raised £1070.00!  It’s a fantastic sum and has only been possible due to the help and support of people like you!

THANK YOU!

Dalry School’s Fundraiser – Mary’s Meals Earthquake Appeal

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this event – we had a fantastic day!  As well as raising funds for the earthquake appeal, it was great to be able to have a community event in school again after so long.  So good to see you all; so good to have the primary and secondary pupils working together; but best of all, so good to see the children/young people enjoying themselves whilst raising funds for such a good cause.

At the time of writing (9th March), monies counted so far total over £900.00! We’ve had some great donations – financial, as well as contributions for the raffle which runs until 27th March. There’s still time to get tickets from the school office (gw08officedalry@ea.dumgal.sch.uk/01644 430259) – £50.00 first prize and a lot of other goodies to be won!

The raffle for Lorna’s beautiful cake was won by Mrs Gillies; Sophie in P3 named the Lindt bunny ‘Topsy’ which was closest to its name of ‘Mopsy’; Miss Tranter thought that there were 164 eggs in the jar, which was the closest guess to the 171 total; team Charlie M, Oscar & William won the basketball tournament.

Thank you!
