Happy Den Building Day!

Friday Fun Time was awash with pallets, tarpaulin, ropes, branches and lots of other random materials today…the P1-7 pupils were participating in ‘Den Building Day 2017.’

Every pupil participating was put into mixed year groups and were given a selection of Success Criteria to work towards:

  • Den must be freestanding
  • Den must allow shelter for everyone in your group
  • Everyone must work together as a T.E.A.M
  • Think safety!

I think you’ll agree, the results were fantastic!

Next week we will be ‘camping out’ in our shelters, a test if they survive the elements!

Please check out the link to the information we showed our pupils today to help and inspire them…

Give the kids some materials and let the magic happen…

Mrs Devlin prepping some of the willow we removed from our willow tunnel at Gardening Club to use for our dens, recycling at its best!

George’s face is a picture!

Is that you thinking or scratching the midges Jack?

The finished creations! WOW!

Even thinking about the wildlife, this one has a birdbath!

Here’s some further reading on the benefits of den building, it has lots of useful information on how to den build and great ideas to try in the summer holidays too 🙂
