P4 Science Centre Trip

P4 went to the science centre on Thursday 16th June. We got to go to the Imax to see a £D film, it was about lemurs in Madagascar. Then we went into the science mall in our groups, we were able to have a look round and investigate all the things that were there. There was a whole floor about the human body, we had great fun leaning about how our body works. We even found out what jobs we could do if we enjoy science.

What a fantastic day!

Special Visitors

This morning we had a visit from the Queen of the South elect, Eimear Smith and her attendants.  We were all excited to see the horses and we even had a cheering competition which Lucy and Avi won!

Lauren, our attendant,  welcomed everyone to St Andrew’s and Harvey, the Queen’s Bearer, presented a gift to the Queen.

Some of our pupils were lucky enough to win prizes in the Guid Nychburris Handwriting Competition and they were awarded with their prizes by the Queen.  The following pupils won Highly Commended Certificates:

Jagna (P7), Debbie (P7), Emilia (P6), Leah (P5), Ava-Rose (P3) and Ruby (P3)

We look forward to seeing the Queen and all her attendants in the Guid Nychburris celebrations this weekend.

Good Luck Lauren and Harvey, we hope you have a great day and that the sun shines!

On Monday 6th June P4/5 went on a trip to Stirling Castle and Bannockburn as part of their topic on The Scottish Wars of Independence. The children had a brilliant time and learned lots from Mark and Lesley from Solway Tours. The children behaved perfectly and were a credit to the school.

Football Success

We have continued to see improvements in our school football teams. Last week we had three teams competing in the various Queen of the South competitions at the indoor arena. All performed well. All gave of their best. That is always the case but now there is real awareness and style from each of them. Well done to all!!

feb 2016 011 chinese new year 8.2.16 003

The children have been trying lots of different foods this week at snack time. They’ve had noodles with soy sauce for Chinese new year on Monday, with some children wanting to have a go at using the chopsticks, then pancakes with toppings such as lemon juice or honey for pancake day on Tuesday. The children enjoyed watching Mrs Parker try and toss the pancakes!
