It has been a while since we last posted some of our learning displays to look at. Robert Burns is one theme that tends to come up at this time of the year.
P2 Celebration of Learning
Today P2 had their Celebration of Learning. Parents and Grandparents came in to see what we have been learning and how. P2 entertained their audience with a French days of the week song and a Scots poem. Everyone took part in the Go Noodle brain break too. We had lots of activities to show how we learn in different areas of the curriculum.
Scottish Dancing in Primary Five
3D shape with art straws
In Primary 7 we are learning about shape this term. We worked cooperatively measuring carefully to make 3D shapes such as triangular prisms, cubes and cuboids. The play dough shows up the vertices nicely and it helped us to see the properties of shapes. We worked on our mental maths calculating the exact length of straw used to make each shape too. Great work P7!
Science in P7
This week the secondary science department will be launching the Science Fair. A competition at St Joseph’s for P7 and S1 children to take part in. More information will follow soon. Meanwhile, P7 have been creating their own blood this week (of a messy kitchen kind!) We used marshmallows, yellow and red colouring, cheerios and oats to represent the red blood cells, plasma, white bloods cells and platelets. No children were harmed in this experiment!!
P7 Curling
P7 enjoyed their opportunity to try Curling again at the Ice Bowl last week. Many of them picked up new skills quickly and had a natural ability at the sport. It was a fun experience that hopefully some of them will try again. The curling club are keen for some new members and would welcome them back I’m sure. !
