On Thursday 18th May, Primary 6 listened to a very informative talk from PC Trosh about Substance Misuse. They discussed the uses for drugs, positive and negative, and the difference between legal and illegal drugs. They also had time to look at examples and discuss with each other what they looked like and their effects on the body. The class listened very well, answered questions sensibly and asked pertinent questions throughout the talk. They all agreed they had learned something they didn’t know before, including Mrs Barnett!

STEM Bridge Building with P7
Over the last 3 weeks Primary 7 have been learning about Civil Engineering from our STEM ambassador Mrs Lauryn Steele. This week we had the grand finale which was to build an amazing full size bridge in our PE hall! The children were split into 2 teams and given important roles within the group as either deck, cable or pin workers. The team work was fantastic, as well as the learning gained about the different forces of tension and compression, as well as the different types of bridge structures. This particular bridge was a Cable Stay bridge but the children have made truss, suspension and cantilever bridges too with the K-Nex in class. They really enjoyed the challenge to build the strongest structure and it was the Arch bridge built by Harvey, Reign, Freya and Bobbi that actually held the most weight of 4kg! What a fantastic project this has been for us!

Transfer to P1 and S1.- Catchment pupils.
Can we please reassure some of our families about the places they have applied for in regard to their children and their catchment school. If the primary or secondary you have applied for is your catchment school, you will not receive a letter confirming that place, but you do have a place. It is your catchment school so a letter is not necessary. Letters are only issued to those families who have applied for a school that is not their catchment school. We hope this clears things up a little.
