Farrah Hunter in P4 shared her artistic talents with us this week. She chose to research a famous artist and research facts about him. A fantastic piece of homework and a lovely decoration for our school corridor! Well done Farrah.

Healthy eating in P2
P2 have been learning about the body, our skeleton and major organs and last week we looked at some of the different ways we can look after our bodies.
The children had great fun figuring out where each piece of food should go on our giant eat well plate and we had some excellent discussions about how we can aim for a balanced diet. 
P4 IDL Homework Robert the Bruce
Well done to Milli and her dad for this fantastic effort in IDL homework. Milli tells us the sword is 44 inches long which she researched was the real length of Robert the Bruces sword. She also learned her family Motto was Sero Sed Serio (late but in earnest). Milli was our Pupil of the Week this Friday. Looking forward to lots more great homework from P4!
Bannockburn and Stirling Castle for P4
Last Friday P4 enjoyed a fantastic trip to learn more about their topic Robert the Bruce. They got to see and feel real weapons used in the battles and they took part in a brilliant interactive Bannockburn Battle Experience. They changed history and the English team won! There was lots of tactical discussion and great involvement. After lunch we toured Stirling Castle where there was so much to see and do. We enjoyed learning about life in the castle kitchens and the Great Hall. Lots of us want to go back as we didn’t have time to see and do everything even though we were non-stop. P4 highly recommend a trip as the Castle has a lot of interactive activities for families to do. As usual super behaviour P4 well done!
P2 Read Aloud Day at Georgetown Library 📚
P2 enjoyed an excellent visit to Georgetown Library last week on ‘World Read Aloud Day’. The children have been reading aloud to the Everywhere Bear, so they decided to bring him along too for a wee treat!
Eileen gave the children a tour of the Non – Fiction, and Fiction areas of the library, and she was most impressed when Calvin told her the difference between the two types of book. Bella was challenged with finding a novel in the Fiction part of the library, and she found out the the books are filed alphabetically by the author’s surname.
The children also met the resident dragon and they wondered if he was related to the dragon that visited our classroom? 🐉
Art at St Joseph’s for P4
On Wednesday Primary 4 went to St Joseph’s and worked collaboratively to produce a fantastic collage of the Monet Water Lillies painting. Erin Dear in S6 planned a wonderful range of group activities along with her Art teacher Mr Davolls. Erin helps in our classes for work experience and is applying to become a Primary Teacher. We wish her every success. P4 thoroughly enjoyed working in the Art Department and a group will go back next week to finish the Balsa wood bridge.
P2 gymnastics fun 🤸♀️
P2 have had excellent fun learning more about gymnastics and challenging themselves on the apparatus. They have become experts and making different gymnastic “shapes” – the T shape, the L shape, the bridge, the tuck and the pike, to name but a few!
The children were very responsible when trying out the different apparatus, and they tried their very best to land with both feet together and knees bent, just like a real gymnast! We have been reading about Nadia Comaneci who achieved a perfect 10, there were a few children who were inspired by her! 🤸♀️ 🤸♂️ 😂😂
Speechmaking Competition Pictures
Primary 3 Celebration of Learning
This afternoon Primary 3 welcomed their families in to share some of their learning. First the children sang a Scottish song they have been practising called, ‘Sam the Skull’. Next they split in to groups and one group went to the hall where the children took on the role of the waiters and served an afternoon tea. The children had made scones, traybakes and healthy wraps to share.
In the class room the groups got the adults to get to work on some maths games sharing how we are working on multiplication.
Another group were busy getting active with the children sharing their dances from our Jigs and Reels sessions.
It was a lovely afternoon and Primary 3 thoroughly enjoyed being able to take the lead in sharing their learning!
Rotary Speech Making Competition
Many congratulations to our four semi-finalists that represented our school brilliantly in the Rotary Club’s Speechmaking Competition last night.
Avi and Emily in P7 both secured a place in the final to be held in March – a fantastic achievement! Grant and Kayla in P6 delivered super speeches too and although were unsuccessful in going forward to the next stage should be extremely proud of themselves.
Well done again to all of them!
