Primary 3 Celebration of Learning

This afternoon Primary 3 welcomed their families in to share some of their learning.  First the children sang a Scottish song they have been practising called, ‘Sam the Skull’.  Next they split in to groups and one group went to the hall where the children took on the role of the waiters and served an afternoon tea.  The children had made scones, traybakes and healthy wraps to share.

In the class room the groups got the adults to get to work on some maths games sharing how we are working on multiplication.

Another group were busy getting active with the children sharing their dances from our Jigs and Reels sessions.

It was a lovely afternoon and Primary 3 thoroughly enjoyed being able to take the lead in sharing their learning!

Nithsdale Active Schools Primary Dance Festival

A group of Primary 4 and Primary 7 children have been working hard over several lunch times in recent weeks on a dance routine for a Dance Festival.  Hayley Powell from Active Schools has been in to help and advise but the majority of the routine came from the children’s own ideas.

Yesterday 17 children went to The Bridge to perform their routine, along with 3 other schools.  The children did a great job and always had big smiles on their faces (even when one of our team lost their shoe mid routine!)

We were awarded certificates for Best Team Spirit and Most Unique Dance Routine.  Everyone really enjoyed the experience and we look forward to participating again next year.

A Cold Start for Jog Club

Everyone was up bright and early for jog club this morning.  The cold, frosty weather did not put us off!  We wrapped up warm and headed down to the Dock Park and even made it to the Millennium Bridge.  Everyone now feels they are able to jog for slightly longer each week as our fitness levels increase.  Fingers crossed for another dry morning next week!

Morning Jog Club

We are just back from our first morning jog club of the session.  12 pupils headed down to the Dock Park to start their day with a warm up, timed jog and some relay races.  We then headed back to school for a stretch before a quick change and ready for the day to start!  Have a look at our smiley faces after our healthy start to the day:

Primary 3 Farm Visit

On Wednesday Primary 3 had a fantastic trip to Newhouse Farm.  Farmer Fraser Nicholson did a great job of showing us round after his visit to school earlier in the week .  We started with a visit from the farm vet and he was busy scanning some cows.  Then we saw the cows being milked and this gave us a real insight in to the journey our milk takes from farm to our fridges.  Thanks to Fiona from RHET for organising this trip and Farmer Fraser for letting us look round his farm.
