On Friday Primary 3 were lucky enough to have Briony from Sustrans in for a fun scooter session. We used the new class set of scooters and helmets we had been lucky enough to receive from Sustrans earlier this term.  The Primary 7 IBike Crew were on hand to help out too!

This month we have been focussing on Our School Value – ‘Family and Faith  – We try to live our Gospel Values everyday.’  Each class has chosen one person they feel  demonstrates this in their every day actions.

On Monday 26th September we held the first meeting of our new Pupil Council.  The children were excellent at contributing to the discussions.  The main point of discussion was how we could create a fitting memorial to Mrs Lowther.  The children had lovely ideas and will be sharing more information with you all soon.

What a glorious morning for our first Running Club of the term.  The sunshine definitely helped keep us going as we headed down to the Dock Park and over the Millennium Bridge.   A great start which got us all set for the day ahead.

This month we focussed on our value of Safety – We keep ourselves and others safe!
The following pupils were chosen as they show this value in their everyday life.

St Catherine (blue team) was today announced as the winning house after all the points for the year were added together. The children in St Catherine enjoyed an extra break in the sunshine and an ice lolly treat !

What a beautiful day for the Queen of the South Elect to visit our school with the Cornet, Cornet’s Lass and other Principals.   All classes and nursery joined us in the sunshine to see the Principals and their horses.  The children were in fine voice and cheered them on.  There was even a horse race with a difference!!

Winners of the Guid Nychburris Handwriting competition also received their prizes and we would like to say a special congratulations to them.

Finally we would like to wish Orla every success and hope she has great fun on Saturday as she represents our school as the attendant this year.  Good Luck and we hope the sun keeps shining!

On Tuesday the whole school got together to celebrate as a community for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It was a joy to be able to get all classes back together again and everyone enjoyed traditional games and picnic treats! Here are some photos of the fun:

On Tuesday 24th May we were delighted to be able to have the whole school together once more for our Sports Day.  It was also lovely to be able to welcome parents across to St Joseph’s so they could join in the fun.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the morning and we (almost) got away with the weather staying dry for us!

It was great to see and hear the children supporting each other and the  lovely banners, flags and posters they had created.

A big thank you also to the children from St Joseph’s who came to help.  We really appreciate this and hope you enjoyed your ice lolly reward!

The overall winning team on the day were St Catherine (the blue team).  Here are our winners –  I think you you can see the delight on their faces!
