This morning the Queen of the South elect visited our school with her attendants and the Cornet and the Cornet’s Lass. It was especially exciting for us this year as the Queen, Molly Hyslop, is a former pupil of St Andrew’s. It was lovely to see them and the horses. Our own school attendant Emilia, presented Molly with a gift from the school. We wish them all, especially Molly and Emilia, the best of luck on Saturday and hope the sun shines!

Sports Day Fun
Today in St Andrew’s we held our annual Sports Day. We all headed down to the Dock Park and were so glad the weather stayed dry for us! It was a great day and the children showed super sportsmanship with their encouraging nature. The smiles on faces whether the children were winning or losing was lovely to see.
A big Congratulations to St Catherine our blue team, who came out overall winners on the day.

Cross Country Competition
Three Primary 6 girls braved the elements today to take part in the Nithsdale Primary Schools Cross Country Championships. The conditions were very muddy and it was extremely cold but the girls showed great determination with Leah finishing an amazing 6th out of over 40 girls and as a team the girls finished an impressive 5th! The hot vimtos when we got back to school were definitely needed! Well done Girls!
Active Girls Week
This week as part of our Cluster Health Programme we have been offering lunch time activities to celebrate girls in sport. All classes had an activity to attend and received water, fruit snack and a certificate for taking part. Our Sports Committee Reps, Shannon and Nicole helped promote the event. Well done all who attended!
