P7 have been working on their fitness levels over the last couple of weeks. We have been recording how many times we can do 1 activitity/exercise in 1 minute and recorded our scores. Each week we have been trying to set our own personal goals and have achieved many of them.
St Joseph’s Maths Champions came across to St Andrew’s this week to begin working with our Primary 6 and 7 children on bar modelling. Everyone enjoyed working together and as you can see we even took advantage of the good weather!
Yesterday we took our spelling work outside and decided to learn our words whilst keeping healthy! We tested each other whilst skipping, hula hooping and keeping the ball up with our bats! Some activities proved trickier than others but we all agreed it was good fun!
P4 have been learning all about prepositions in literacy this week. We learned that prepositions can be to show place, movement or time. We went around the playground and into the forest seeing how many different ones we could use in sentences and act out for the camera!
There were lots of creative ideas and poses!
Bibi is on top of the climbing frame and Farrah is behind the wall.
The children were under the trees and inside their dens. Well done to the P4 group leaders/photographers Charlie and Milli for catching great learning!
In maths we have been looking at patterns. We used a computer programme which allowed us to create our own repeating patterns using colours and shapes. We could also rotate the shapes to vary our patterns .
In Primary 3 we have been busy learning about which crops are available to harvest in which seasons. One group harvested some of the vegetables from our school garden and then made some delicious soup to take home. Over the next few weeks we are all looking forward to being involved in this.
Our Primary 1 children have been settling in well to life at St Andrew’s. Last week the newspaper photographer visited school and the children appeared bright and cheerful in this week’s copy of the Dumfries Standard.
