Have a look at some photos of our St Andrew’s Day Celebrations:

A group of our Primary 6 girls have been lucky enough to take part in a lunch time Cheerleading Club.  This has been lead by St Joseph’s College pupil Nicole Kerr with her assistant Stephanie Rome  (Both girls are former pupils of St Andrew’s).  The girls have loved the experience and learned so much in a short space of time.   They even managed to put on a final performance for the younger children.

The girls have now planned  for another block of Cheerleading lessons after the Christmas holidays.

 

 

 

When I was at Bathgate I had to play girl singles. In the first round there was three groups of four. Holly was the top in the first group and they expected Holly to come first and she had come first. In the second group Amelia was expected to come second but she didn’t and I was in the last group expected me to come third but I didn’t. My group was quite easy but there was one hard game which took  five sets. The coach was putting pressure on the other girl to win the last set because it was 2 sets each but I won the last one.

After that there was the next group that had six people in it but the top two went trough so I went through and so did the second place person for each group.  So it came to the final games. I was one against Holly first. I knew I was going to lose but I didn’t mind. There were two people that I won against. Willow went through who I bet in the first group so I didn’t need to play her again, but I had to play against one last person. I lost against  her but we all won all the same number of games and lost the same so we had to do a count back. They did it from Willow because she won agents the person  that I lost to( Amelia ) straight three sets. I don’t really know how it works. Anyway I went through to represent Scotland in Wales.

 

  Primary 6 were asked to choose a make and model of plane built and flown between 1914 and 1945. They had to research information about their chosen plane including where and when was it built, what purpose was it built for and who designed and built it. They also had to think about how advances in technology would have helped in the construction and performance of the plane if it had been built today.

The children worked very hard on their homework and came up with some excellent posters and models. They are now proudly displayed outside the Primary 6 classroom.

This afternoon Primary 1 visited Georgetown library as part of our Book Week celebrations.  Firstly the very friendly librarian read a book in Scots which we found really funny.  Then we had a chance to look for books and share them with the adults that were with us.  Before we left we got another story, it was about ‘The Shark in the Park’ which is one of our favourite books.

We then walked back to school (and managed not to slip on the icy pavements!) just in time for the home time bell.

As part of Book Week Scotland in Primary 1 we decided to  invite our grown ups in to join us in some fun book based activities.  For our book ‘A Shark in the Park on a Windy Day!’ we created a craft shark which looked pretty scary!   For ‘ Hare and  Tortoise’, we had a bit of a race with our grown ups to see who was fastest.  For ‘There’s a Bear on My Chair’  we tested the adults rhyming skills.  There was also a chance to visit our lovely colourful library to share some quiet time with a good book.

At the end of the afternoon each child was gifted with their book bag which they can now share and enjoy at home!
