⭐IT’S SHOWTIME!⭐

✨Leswalt Primary Present Baubles

Let’s set the scene; the lights were dimmed, Christmas tree sparkling, fake beards applied, Mary’s baby bump stuffed… we were all ready for our big performance of ‘Baubles’.

Friends, family and fans from far and wide filled the hall and all the boys and girls waited excitedly back stage for the performance of their lives, and that it was! 🎬🍿

Through their tree-mendous acting  and super singing (😏) the boys and girls did an amazing job of weaving the traditional Christmas story into a primary school setting. Mr Potts the school janitor had been hard at work making baubles for the neglected school Christmas tree, each one linking to part of the nativity story!🎄

As always, we are exceptionally proud of all the boys and girls and can’t thank families enough for all the hard work which has clearly been put in at home to make sure everybody was able to say their lines so confidently and clearly. Well done everybody!😍

For more of Leswalt Primary’s fabulous Christmas singing, come along to the Christingle Service in the church on Christmas Eve at 6:30pm (not an ad).

Roll the credits….

Christmas Crafts and Carols 🎤🎨🎄

This afternoon we welcomed families into school to purchase some of the Christmas crafts we have been working hard on as part of our ‘enterprise’ topic. Primary 1-3 sold some cute sock snowmen, pine cone Christmas trees and tasty Oreo reindeer, which went down a treat!⛄Primary 4-7 sold their pine cleaner Christmas trees and tree decorations.🎄Afterwards we gave a wee sneak preview of some of the songs from our school show to get us all warmed up and ready for tomorrow’s performances.🎤

As always, thank you so much to everybody who managed to come along this afternoon and to those who purchased some of our crafts! There remaining crafts will be taken across to the hall tomorrow and they can be purchased there too! 😀

To finish off the superb afternoon, Leo’s Granny Dawn, very kindly, handed out beautiful personalised mugs and hot chocolates to all of the boys and girls, on behalf of Leswalt community association! How lucky are we?! Thank you very much to Leswalt community for this very generous gesture! 😍

It’s Not Christmas Without Chocolate.. 🍫

A huge big thank you to Allan Jenkins from  who delivered a 29 chocolates bars to school today for all the boys and girls at Leswalt to enjoy! These delicious treats were a very kind donation from Stranraer Development Trust and the Millenium Centre and will be given out tomorrow after our school show as a wee treat for everybody’s hard work🍫.  I think the lovely big smiley faces show just how grateful and happy we are!😄

Christmas with Owain and Stranraer Baptist Church🎄🎅

On Friday morning Leswalt and Kirkcolm’s upper classes visited the Baptist Church in Stranraer to learn about the true Story of Christmas with Owain and some of the church volunteers!✝️
We enjoyed chatting with Owain about our families Christmas traditions. Owain explained that a lot of the traditions we have in our houses are based on the Nativity story. Afterwards, we split up into groups and acted out parts of the Nativity story. We had donkeys, Mary, Joseph, 3 Kings!🤴🤴🤴
Then, we rotated around 4 fun Christmassy stations; colouring, wrapping, wreath decorating and our Christingles. Through our activities, we learned some really interesting facts about Christmas and the Nativity.
After we had finished all 4 activities, we got together to place a candle on the map of Stranraer to spread Christmas wishes to everybody! Huge thank to Owain and his lovely helpers for a fab and engaging session – as always!

Community concert choir

A big well done must go to our confident individuals who took part in the recent Leswalt community Christmas concert.

Nine little people gave up their Friday evening to entertain everyone in Leswalt Memorial hall with their super singing of festive tunes.

Mrs Baillie rewarded all with a merit for being such confident individuals and a sweet treat as thank you for their time.

This little choir will be joined by some more of their friends to perform at the Christingle service in Leswalt Church on Christmas Eve.  Look out for them on their next stop on their tour!

Badminton superstars

A huge congratulations and well done to Rachael Drummond and Olivia Fidler who both managed to secure third place in the Rhins cluster Badminton competition!

Rachael and Olivia have regularly been attending the Active schools club with Alison Murray and have been training up their skills in the sport to smash it in the inter schools championship.

A massive well done to  both girls.   It is a fab sport and a great opportunity to meet pupils from other schools.   Rachael came third in the P7  girls  and Olivia came third in the P6 girls .

We are very proud of both of you! 🏸🥉🥉

Christmas tree festival

The pupils of Leswalt Primary school have created their own very unique Christmas tree which will be on display in Leswalt village Church for the next two weeks, as part of the Crhistmas tree festival which has invited different groups and people in our community to submit their tree creations.

We do not only have one star on our tree – but lots of stars! 🌟

How fantastic does this tree look?

Clay Bird Workshop🐦

This morning Frances Ross, a clay artist visited P4-7’s to have us to take part in the FLOCK workshop. Frances was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable on her craft; she told us about the history of clay modelling, and where clay is used in everyday life. Who knew a toilet seat or hair straighteners were made out of clay?! 🚽
We started off by practising clay molding by creating a ‘pinch pot’ which slowly but surely turned into monsters, lions, football trophies (ofc course Colin!). Pupils were able to take these home! 🎁We then moved onto putting the skills to use to form a bird shell which took shape of a beak and tail feathers at either end. Pupils did a fantastic job at this – they listened so well and were able to apply their skills with ease! Afterwards, we added some colour – We had a little look at British garden birds and some pupils chose to make robins and sparrows, other opted for spotty rainbow birds. 🐦🦅Frances then took the birds away to fire in her studio’s kiln. The birds will be displayed in an exhibition in Castle Douglas for all to see.
A super opportunity for us to do something a little different and have a go at clay modelling! Everyone seemed to really enjoy it! Keep an eye out for some interesting pinch pots making their way home! 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

Leswalt go to the Panto.. Oh yes they did!🎬🎭

This afternoon all of Leswalt Primary school once again boarded a bus and headed into town to the Millenium Centre to watch The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Hospotch, a Glasgow company put a modern twist on an old classic – and what a show it was! 🦁 Dorothy, an inspiring singer was transported to the land of Oz, in hopes of meeting ‘The Wiz’ a big time music producer and landing a contract as a Rock Star! Along the way she meets new friends; the tin man, the cowardly lion, the scarecrow and a hilarious farting witch, who had us in fits of laughter!🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️
Everybody really enjoyed themselves; we were all particularly amused by Glinda the good witch with a very sassy edge and lot of gas, who we all agreed really was the star of the show!😂 🩷
A lovely way to begin the Christmassy festivities and get us all inspired for our School Show! 🎅
