Holywood vs. World Book Day!!!

Today we had to come to school… all dressed up! Because it is world book day we got a letter home in the Holywood mailbag saying on the 3rd of March we could dress up as whatever our favourite book character was. The book I am reading right now is Harry Potter and the goblet of fire  and this is my favourite book is right know so that’s who I dressed up as. Sarah-Jane dressed up as my best friend from Hogwarts Hermione Granger, to bad somebody didn’t dress up as Ron(Ronald) Weasley! This is how I dressed up:

I wore a white polo shirt

I wore a black jumper

I wore some dress up trousers

I wore my dock martins

I wore a pair of sunglasses with the lenses taken out

I brought my broomstick

I wore a pair of black socks

AND my mum got a black eyeliner pencil and made a scar on my forehead

then when I got to school I got a bit of willow stick and made a wand

anyway… back to world book day! Today at quarter past nine we did e.r.i.c then writing then we did maths and at half past 2 parents are going to come and we can do a book swap so say i brought in 10 books but i brought 4 we would swap them for 10 or 4 more books!!

Peer Mediation – Coming soon to Holywood Primary

We are excited to announce we have successfully completed a 2 day peer mediation course! 14 pupils have attended and are ready to deliver a new peer mediation service. Peer mediation will help to solve problems and make this school even more  friendly and a great school to learn and grow.

Bus wanted

Holywood would like an old double decker bus – for the play ground and reading and playing we do not want to drive it around

the shed

DSCF0112The shed is so colourful it makes my eyes explode what would you do to make the shed assume and cool.

The colour of the shed is blue  and pupil yellow it’s so pretty.

We are going to ask some of the staff    what they think of the new shed.

Mrs McCutcheon said “There are no distractions! It is a nice little private area. I love working in it and the children work really hard.”

Mrs Queen said “The children love it and it is a nice little airy space to work in”

Mr Payne said ” A nice, quiet area where children can get on with their work”

Miss Dale said” It is a peaceful place to work, you can get some reading done! The only problem is the shed can be full of other learners and you can’t always get in it!”

We also asked some of the pupils:

Dylan: said it’s a nice area to get on with work.

Gavin: it’s small to work in.

Ella: it’s nice and  colourful to work in.

Writing – this week at Holywood!

In writing we have been narrating the Insect Race with Miss Dale. We have been editors and have read and corrected our writing – checking spelling, sentences and the quality of our work! Now we are publishing and we hope to show them to our parents!

Meanwhile  p3 and p4 have been writing poetry with Miss Tweedie. P1 and p2 have been doing Wee Books with Miss Stapleton.

We hope it will be before the Easter holidays. Maybe earlier, we hope. and I think every body will play on it I will be playing on it so will Gavin, Ryan, Dylan, Hayden and Greg.

litter

there is to much litter in the school. We have been trying to get rid of it but it have not worked. People left rubbish in the den I am refuting to clash of dens it’s a blog. it would be great if you see someone littering tell them to put it in the bin.

Kenyan Round House

The Kenyan round house is damaged a lot most of the mud has came off. The roof is falling a part from all that wind the willow sticks have came off. It will need repaired a lot.

So if any parents could help with it  that would be great!

Thank you.

The Playground

At Holywood school our playground is a little different from others (I think.) Because we have two epic hills that are good to sit on in the summer and have your lunch on the top. We have bolders next to our sand pit that we jump from bolder to bolder on. We also have 2 willow dens one snake like shape. We really want to get a tank or an old routmaster London bus.
