samye ling trip

On Tuesday the whole of p1/7 went to samye ling in eskdalemuir. We left at 9 :00 and came back at 3:20.

The Buddhist retreat is good to stay for a day, a week, a month or even years. Our tour guide Peter gave us lots of amazing facts about the statues and the temple as well as the Stupa .

The most interesting part was the meditation hall,  it was made out of mostly painted gold and some pieces are gold leaf. It has a Buddha with lots of teachings and we sat on pillows, the teachers sat on chairs .

All of it was amazing especially the stupa with lots of polished stones. There was a hall of prayer wheels which on the other walls contained ashes of the dead which was a little spooky walking through it but it was fun spinning the prayer wheels .

We had lunch at something past 12 or 1 I didn’t know but after lunch we saw the statues of a lady Buddha called Tara. Another sat on a cobra which represented fear and after that we went to a in-progress herbal medicine farm  and also we could see the accommodation for the monks and nuns but could not go in. We saw them through windows it was really interesting.

Samye ling

On Tuesday the 3rd of May we (primary 1-7 of Holywood Primary) were out on an school trip to Samey Ling in Eskilbride. We were greeted by our tour guide and his name was Peter and he was very nice. We went to the temple and entered the meditation hall. We talked about all of the gold inside. It turned out that the gold was actually gold leaf witch is a thin layer of gold. There were 27 layers of gold leaf on the main Buddha witch stands tall in the middle of back wall.

Samye Ling Trip

On Tuesday the 3rd May 2016 P1-7 went on a fantastic trip to Samye Ling Buddhist temple. The bus ride was 1 hour and it was horrendous because there was so many turns. When we got here we met our tour guide who’s name was Peter and he was a nice guy and we all had loads of fun. We visited loads of things including:

The meditation temple- In there we sat on cushions and practised meditation.

The shrine – We sat down and Peter gave us some information about some relics that are in the roof.

Here’s a photo of the temple before we went in.

Kagyu Samye Trip

On the 3rd of May team Holywood travelled to Kagyu Samye Tibetan centre for our regions topic. We had a tour of the whole place. The temple was massive. I learned that the statue of Buddha is hollow and has relics from different teachers because Buddhists don’t have a god but they have teachers. It took one hour to get to Kagyu Samye in Eskdalemuir and there was a little shop that was super expensive. We got told that the Buddha statue wasn’t pure gold but a kind of coting of gold, but its actually made from cooper. It was very interesting and I loved every bit of it to the temple to the stupa.

Chelsea Fc Youth Cup final Win

On the 27of September Chelsea Fc under 18 went against the man city under 18 team for the FA youth cup and everybody was wondering could the blues win 4  times In a row well they Did Chelsea U18 3-1 Manchester City U18 (agg: 4-1): Blues retain Youth Cup once again.

On a night when an extraordinary thunderstorm cracked away above Stamford Bridge, our Under-18s confidently and comprehensively dampened any hope Manchester City had of avenging their defeat at this stage of the Youth Cup last season.

Schoolboy Dujon Sterling opened the scoring for Chelsea just before half-time with Tammy Abraham’s 26th goal of the season in all competitions extending the lead not long after it.

Fikayo Tomori scored another important goal to make it 3-0 with City’s late goal a mere consolation by Braiden
