Cranimals 🐺

Hi, Caspian is back!

My title refers to the series of books I am writing based on animal hybrids. I spoke about this not too long back and I decided to reveal my illustrations to you today.

Today I found out about the life cycle of a butterfly. From my research, I watched a film about butterflies with David Attenborough.

For my lesson on health, I created an exercise routine for the family to do every week. I am not posting the video though as I’m too embarrassed!

I had a lesson on cleanliness in the home. An excuse by my mum to get me to tidy my chest of drawers! I also helped make fish pie-i made the parsley sauce.

Bye 🐺

PS I don’t know why my picture won’t rotate. Mum and I have looked all over for the rotate button but cannot find it anywhere on the menu. Sorry.

Big Thursday 30th April

Hi

I have been busy the past 2 days. Yesterday I made Honeycomb. This is what u need..

Butter for greasing tin

200g caster sugar

5 tbsp golden syrup

2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

It was lovely. My dad and I ate it all!  Yesterday I did some maths on the computer on Top Marks and I did some drawing in my book from the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’.

Today I checked my bug hotel. I found a snail and a spiders web. I then did some Rhythm work. I loved this. I used 2 wooden spoons for drum sticks. Then I did some maths and read a book called ‘Better than you and Brr, it’s cold.

My book on vertebrates

Hello everyone! Cleo here.

Today I did a book about vertebrates. It took me most of the day but I got there. This was to follow on from my food chain I did earlier. We also watched some videos to tell us facts about vertebrates and invertebrates.

Through out the week I have done some maths in French.
Miss . Stapleton – I tried some of the spicy five a day. I only needed a little help on the bigger multiplication but now I understand how to do it.

I’m still reading The House With The Chicken Legs. Mummy is trying to encourage me to get it finished.

I am going to check our bug hotel shortly to see who’s decided to live there and we will report back. Bye for now! Cleo

Whittling with Mrs. Madden 4

To create the bowl part of your wooden spoon, you need to gouge out the wood.  You can use your knife to do this, by making small ‘v’ shaped cuts but it takes a long time and leaves the ‘bowl’ quite rough and you will have to do quite a lot of sanding to get it smooth.  I use a small gouge (a wood carving tool).

I like to draw a perimeter, with a pencil, around the area I am going to gouge before I start.  Rest the spoon against one of the blocks on the whittling seat and start to remove small areas of wood – make sure you do not dig too deeply as that could split and splinter the wood.

Gouge one way (this will create curls of wood in the centre of the spoon bowl).  Turn the spoon around, resting the end of the handle against the blocks on the seat and gouge the other way.

Once you are satisfied that you have removed enough wood from the spoon bowl and you are happy with the shape, you can sand your spoon.  I like to use Aluminium Oxide paper.  I have a rough P80 paper and a finer P120 paper (the higher the number on the paper, the finer the texture of the paper).  You can use whatever you have got though.

Sanding can be a slow process particularly the inside of the spoon bowl as it is a bit fiddly but it is worth it to get a nice smooth finish.

Finally, rub some olive oil all over your spoon.  Leave to dry and you are finished (this one is my spoon as my son hasn’t finished sanding yet).

Wednesday

Hi guys, how are you doing? I’ve not been so busy because I didn’t do somethings on my schedule. I didn’t do my tidying. The first thing I did today was Spanish. Again I use the app Duolingo. Next I did my reading. I am reading machine gunners. Quickly I write to my granny because we are being pen pals. Then it was Maths. I was working on 24 hour time or 12 hour time. Then it was English. Again I did  comprehension.  The morning to the afternoon is basically the same everyday. My mum offered to get some ice cream so I said yes. I got vanilla ice cream. After that it was project work. I am doing a letter about life as a child in the world war. Like how they had to evacuate. This picture is my Spanish. The crowns means how many levels you have completed. I’ve done more but I couldn’t fit it in. The fire is what streak you have. The hearts are how many life’s you have got. If you run out of hearts you either have to use your gems or loose all the work you have done. And you will have to practice. The flag is what language you are studying. That is my day for you bye.
