FORCES

Forces in class we have been learning about forces and we have been doing a lot of experiments during topic time   and its really fun . We maid parachutes and put it on a Plasticine ball and throw it of the hill  and  timed it with bigger para shoots each time .We also maid dolly trolleys in to aeroplane that  reduce friction and then we went down the hill.

Physics

Hi all, Caspian is back!

Today I have been learning about forces – push, pull and twist. I applied it to five objects in the house and compiled my results in a table. I found this really interesting and will continue with it tomorrow when I am going to create a stop motion. I have also been doing some maths and for literacy, I wrote down everything I saw in a picture I built on WW1 trench warfare. It is hard to type as Ludo keeps putting his paw on my cheek!

See ya!

Penguin Day

Hello everyone,

I did not do my blog yesterday because I forgot so here it is now. I researched penguins and found lots of facts about them. I read some books about them and I also watched a video about them on the computer. I kept stopping the film to write down my facts. Mummy helped me spell the big words.

  1. Explorers first called penguins ‘strange geese’.
  2. Penguins lost the ability to fly millions of years ago but their powerful flippers make them very accomplished swimmers.
  3. Penguins jump in the air before diving to help them swim faster.
  4. Penguins can swim a speeds over 10 miles per hour and they can also dive over 800 feet.
  5. Some extinct penguins grew to more than 5 feet tall.
  6. Penguins don’t have teeth. Fleshy spines inside their mouths help them swallow fish.
  7. A group of penguins in the water is called a raft.
  8. There are 8 different species of penguin and are found in a variety of countries.
  9. The smallest species of penguin is the little blue penguin but it is also called the little or the fairy penguin.
  10. Penguins are carnivores. They feed on fish, squid, crabs and other seafood.

For expression, I coloured in a time travelling penguin in bright colours. I also finished reading Snow-White and Rose-Red which had a lovely happy ending. After classes, we went on a litter picking walk. Caspian was really pleased because we didn’t find much this time. We put all the rubbish in the bin. I also saw Abigail and said hello.

I am having a lazy day today because it is raining.

Lots of love, smile every day and always be kind. xxx

Book Review

Hi all, Caspian is back. Today I have been doing a book review on a book called Black Ships Before Troy, written by Rosemary Sutcliffe. The book is all about the fall of Troy in Ancient Greece. I was surprised by the story line because it was very dramatic throughout. I really enjoyed it. My favourite character is Eris, the one who sends the golden apple in the first place to Earth. The illustrations really work well with the story. 5*!

After classes, we went on a walk through the woods opposite to the park and my dog claimed it as her territory so no trespassing!!!! Mum also made some “Oak Royales” as she calls them.

That is the main list of what I did today so,

Bread Creation

Hi all, Caspian is back from baking my first loaf of bread all on my own!

Today I also did some maths and some vocabulary. I had to write down the instructions for the bread. Here they are:

Ingredients:

500g of bread flour

15g butter

1x yeast sachet

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

300ml tepid water

  1. Weigh 500g of bread flour and put it into the bowl.
  2. Weigh 15g of Stork butter and put it into the bowl.
  3. Make sure that there are no big chunks of butter in the bowl.
  4. Add a packet of yeast, and a teaspoon of salt, and one of sugar.
  5. Make a well (a hole in the middle of the mixture.)
  6. Pour 300ml of tepid water into the well.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Knead the dough.
  9. Let the dough prove by putting it into the bowl and putting a damp teatowel over the bowl.
  10. After the first prove, beat all the air out of the dough and roll it back. Repeat for 5 minutes.
  11. Let the dough prove again.
  12. Put the bread on the top tray in the oven and set it to 200 degrees centigrade.
  13. Check to see if the bread is hollow. If it is, complete step 14.
  14. Let it cool for 15 minutes.
  15. Enjoy!

Another foreign goodbye, Adiòs!

Au revoir!

Cake Day!!!!!!!!

Today I made my own cake. This is the recipe. 4oz sugar, 4oz flour, 4oz butter, 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence. This is how I made it. First I washed my hands and tied my hair back. I put the sugar and the butter in first and mixed them. Then I added the eggs. The eggs were messy to do! Then I added flour and vanilla and mixed it all together. Then I added some pink food colouring to make my cake even more special. After I put it in to two cases, mummy put it in the oven for me. When the cake came out and cooled, I made some butter icing. I spread home made jam between the two layers and added some of the icing then I spread the rest around the outside of the cake with help from mummy because it was a bit hard for me to do on my own. I topped the cake off with some fairy smarties on the top. We are having my cake for tea for afters.

I also worked on words that rhyme and made up a poem for Halloween.

Halloween is where you can make buns and have fun;

You can trick or treat that means you get some sweets;

You can play with cats in hats;

I can play and say games;

Halloween is fun for buns;

I can bake fun yummy buns.

Byeee, be happy and smile every day, love from Tanith xxx

Litter Picking

Hi all, Caspian is back. I know I already made a blog today but I wanted to write one about my findings of utter disgustingness. I found two cans of alcohol, both not even finished before thrown away. Whoever it was…ANIMALS DON’T LIKE TO GET DRUNK!!!!!!!!! I also found two bottles of Weetabix’s Get Up And Go. The one tiny bit better than the alcohol was they were empty, but that doesn’t make it better than littering in the first place. I found a smoking packet and some plastic bags. Whoever littered around the road by the Old School Cottages and the road to the railway station…I’ll send an army of Cybermen for you on the 11th of October 2020.

Toodle-oo!

Second Blog of the Week

Hi all, Caspian is back!

Thankfully this time I didn’t make you wait for 6000 years! Today I have been doing an acrostic poem about evacuees about how they felt during the Second World War. I have created a poster about my favourite place, Silloth – go there after the pandemic, you won’t be disappointed. I also did some more business studies. I wrote down ten reasons why dog toys are good for business and why I have chosen to set up my business selling them. I finished off by doing some decimal work.

Endangered

Very scared

Anxious

Country

USA are allies

Excited

Evacuated

I’m off to do some Sumdog now.

See ya!
