bonus goose task.

Hi everyone,

it is 1,800 miles from Dumfries to Svalbard and it takes the geese 36 hours to fly the route. we worked out what it would take if I did the journey. we did this in 2 different ways.

I need 1,800 caloriesΒ  per day as a 11 year old boy. so if I travelled for 36hours would need 2700 calories….or …..

  • 8.43 slices of peperoni pizza
  • 28.42 fredo frogs
  • 48.6 falafels
  • 87.09 red peppers

That would be if I caught a plane for 36 hours. But if I ran 1,800 miles and burnt an average of 100 calories per mile I would need 180,000 calories.

  • 562.5 slices of peperoni pizza
  • 1894.73 fredo frogs
  • 3243.24 falafels
  • 5806.45 red peppers

I think I’ll catch a plane.

BIG THURSDAY IS HERE!!!

Morning Everyone,

Hope you’re all having a great week so far. Big Thursday tasks are now in the learning pages. I’m looking forward to catching up with all your blog posts and seeing what you get up to today!

Have a fab day!

Ny-Alesund

Hi, Caspian here.

For starters, I am very close to losing my top right molar in my mouth. I am very excited. Secondly, I have done my maths, my spelling, and had a look over two places in google maps. Those two places are, Holywood village andΒ  Ny-Alesund in the Arctic. My job was to compare them, and point out what was the same and what was different. I also looked at other places in the world as the satellite pictures really intrigued me.

My cats have been very calm today, which is odd since they are usually quite loud. I think they’ve gone mad from having big lumps of me while I sleep. Although they’re the ones who sleep on me while I’m reading.

Mum got me a new Wimpy Kid book and it arrived today. I have already read it right through so she has to get me another now!

Au revoir! (You have been taking lessons in this, so I won’t point out the language for you.)

Toucan Day

Hello this is Tanith

Today I have done my spellings, my maths, my reading and I coloured in my French picture. I hope you like it. I wrote about my toucan Jacob under my picture. I also looked at the kind of clothes an Arctic person used to wear and what they wear now. I think I would like to wear the modern clothes because they are very cozy and there are loads of layers to make sure you don’t get frostbite. Also an animal does not die to make them. The old clothes look really good but would look much better on the animal they came from.

Tonight mama and I clapped in remembering Captain Sir Tom who died from Covid. I said a little prayer and mama said my words. Then we hugged because we are very lucky to have each other. I am very sad for Captain Sir Tom’s family who will miss him a lot but his star is in heaven now with my cats Isobel and Lunar.

Be kind, be happy and smile every day. Lots of love from Tanith xxx

Wednesday 3rd February by Ella

Hi, sorry I haven’t posted but I am here today as mum is helping me.

I have been practicing my writing and reading words making a sentence.

I have done alot of writing sentences and keep reading tricky words.

I did some adding work with numicon which I did with no help.

We watched the video of the school in the Arctic.

I quite liked it but dont think I want to be there as it looks far too cold. I wouldn’t want to walk all that way in the snow everyday but it would be good with a sledge. That would be fun.

I think the teachers do some things the same but we don’t have a gym like that. We don’t have snow like that all the time.

P4/5 Teams Catch Up

It was lovely to catch up with some of the Primary 4s and 5s today.Β  The sound quality wasn’t great in the hub, so I hope we didn’t deafen you with our shouting!Β  Thank you to those of you who persevered and kept talking and signing until we could hear you.
