>We have started a new badminnttoonn club
by Ethan Gannon p6
On Wednesday the 12 of November P5-7 went to the Auldgirth Fishery with Miss Baxter and we learned about the life of a Salmon. Did you know, that Salmons turn grey when they go out to sea and their fathers have nothing to do with them?
After Christmas the lady that was taking us around is coming to our school to give us Salmon eggs! And we are going to have them until they hatch.

If you find a casualty that is unconscious this is the procedure you would use.
A=Airway: Place your finger and thumb on the chin gently. Then push down softly and open the casualty’s mouth, this opens the airway.
B=Breathing: To make sure they are breathing place your hand on their stomach and ear at their mouth. Try to hear or feel breathing or even look for the stomach movement.
C/P= Circulation and pulse: Take your two middle fingers and place them in the middle of their throat. Take two steps  to the side and feel for movement.
Mr Bell is the man that taught us first aid. We had 6 hours with him (2 hours for 3 days).
The p4 and p5 were doing table tennis at school. we all had fun learning starter moves. I have forgot the name of are trainer but he came all the way from Glasgow to Dumfries to teach us. I go to the table tennis club and it is amazing. we get taught lots more moves and tricks. I can bounce it on the middle of the bat and more. You will need:
A table tennis bat and ball and a table to play it on.
It is fun to play because you can get fit and have fun at the same time. The skills you can use are:
back hand, front hand, bounce on the middle of the bat and keep it still as well as bounce it. It is £2 to join and if you want to get bat it is £5 for a refurbished bat. It was quiet when I joined but now there is about 15 and when I joined there was 5 including me and elliot
We now have access the platform in the trees!
We all thought it would be a tree house but it was a platform.
It all started when the pupil council wanted to build a tree house.
They had a completion to build a tree house we only had=
cardboard
Glue
Paint
sticky tape
To design the tree house.
But it took really long to build as it is massive.
The sand pit needs a good rake.
The sand pit is getting more toys so more people can play.
The completion was really hard because there was loads of competitors each had a plan to win.
Please don’t worry about the changing pictures on the header, I am learning to change them as we need a wee update. Pupils will have it mastered by Friday!!

How is your new school?
Tell us about new friends.
We have had a postcard from Reuben – it was brilliant to read your news – thank you!!
We hope you are all well.
Look forward to hearing from you…

This week we have been learning all about melting and freezing! We did and experiment to see what temperature water has to be before it freezes. We put it outside and in the fridge but they weren’t cold enough. Only the water we put in the freezer froze. Then we tried putting ice in different places to see how fast we could melt it. We found out that the warmer places made it melt faster. The best place was on the radiator. Mrs. Queen had a piece in her hand – it melted quickly but she felt pretty chilly!
Now that GLOW has migrated to its new format we can get back to updating on learning and teaching.
Have a great holiday and look out for our blogs in term 2.
