This year our topic is food and nutrition. we are doing journey of a banana on a poster they have 11 days on a ships.
We are working on food and nutrition in school…
Top things we learned this week:
* Milkshake has a lot of sugar in it.
* If you poach an egg you can tell how fresh it is. If the egg white starts float away and become loose from the yolk your egg is not as fresh as it could be.
* A banana travels thousands of mile to get to the UK – they travel 11 days on a ship. Ethylene gas is used to ripen them before they go to the supermarket.
* Bananas get a bath in chemicals to stop spiders from hanging on for a ride to the UK.
* Low fat yogurt is full of hidden sugar.
Ribena was the juice highest in sugar of the drinks we tested!! Scary!
Food and Nutrition are salt, sugar and health. Ribena was the unhealthiest of the drinks we tested.
Ribena has lots of sugar it has 50g of sugar in the bottle we looked at. More than Irn Bru and Cola.
This week we have ben learning about food and nutrition and to get heather apple juice is heather than orange juice strawberry milk is worst . We made banana posters we watched a film about a plantation in Costa Rica it is the size of 324 foot ball pitches. The bananas that are too long get thrown in to a trailer and it gets turned in to baby food.

We have been learning a food and nutrition topic today we are currently trying to do a journey of a tasty banana from land to your hand it was interesting to see a journey of a banana and we have measured a staggering 135g of sugar in a 1.25l of coke. It has been really interesting seeing how much sugars in different foods and drinks.
This week we have been learning about food and nutrition. We had to make a food and nutrition plate and separate unhealthy stuff. Strawberry milk is really bad for you as it has a lot of sugar, and crispy squares have less sugar.

Hello, long time no see. New term means… new topic. Our new topic is food and nutrition. It doesn’t so exciting but it is a spectacular topic. We have tried new and different foods. I tried coconut.
IT IS LOVELY!!
We have been doing a food and nutrition topic with Miss Dale. our group found out that coke has 135g of sugar so we measured it out and it was a lot. we are going to boil coke to see the sugar.
we watched a film all about the journey of a banana the banana planation was in Costa Rica. the men have to replant the banana trees every year or the bananas won’t grow. we also have task sheets with lots of fun things to try out! my favourite task is the egg miles where we have to type our egg code in to www.food miles.com and it will tell you how many miles it would take to get to us ours was from the Scottish borders.
we also did are likes and dislikes and put them on the eat well plate the sections on the eat well plate are protein, carbohydrate, high and fat, dairy, fruit and veg.
we all are really enjoying are food and nutrition topic!!!
