Today was curling and all the p6 went !!! The first thing we done was just slide with two curling stones across the ice but we weren’t really sliding we both struggled to slide , instructor tout us to do a curling slide what we had to do was put your foot on the step and your other foot behind that , then you push and swap feet then you lay your back foot straight.

after we done that we done a lot more things but they were quite similar to the other one !!!

the bell went and went to eat our food we were telling each other who was in our groups. At the start of curling we were nervous but as the time went on we were fine . Merissa : I liked it a little Dakota : I loved it !!!

games :

we were playing all sorts of games like jenga , knots and crosses , pop goes the weasel , normal mini curling , running curling and others. sadly I forgot what they all were but we remember some of them , the first one was normal jenga and we were trying to make the big tower go bigger and bigger !!! the other one was knots and crosses it was just like the normal game but we were doing them in hoops and groups that was really fun !!!  Dakotas favourite game was running curling my favourite game was running curling !!!

right now at holywood the p.5 to 7 are doing forces and we all have jobs so me and Georgia are doing ice but she’s off the now so kaylans helping me. sonny and partner are reducing friction here are some pushing forces.

The class p5-7 has been doing forces, light and sound.

In this photo an outstanding young man is exerting a pull force on a rope. Unluckily, for him the rope is attached to the building – it is unlikely that he will be able to pull the building along!

 

At Holywood Primary we are organising a big Fairtrade coffee afternoon and are inviting EVERYONE in the village to come. It is your fault if you don’t show up. So come to Holywood and have some Fairtrade coffee and a Fairtrade chocolate biscuit. (If you live at Holywood village that is)

Heya Folks! Back again! We hope you like this comedy blogs… and yeah! Brought to you especially by us!

This week we have been working very “hard” on our work and been learning about Forces, Light and Sound! This week we watched a couple of videos on Air Resistance on a website named Twig (Why not stick or log?) and learned about the Friction of different surfaces. We also learned about how a parachute for a Sky Diver works. The parachute basically catches the air and allows them to float gently down to the ground. Cold.Hard.Ground. ANYWAY…………………. Yes we have been working this week. So sunshine and rainbows! We also did a wooden spoon challenge  were we try to slow down the spoon.

On Big Thursday we did art with Miss Jardine. We made paper models with glue, paper (Of Course!!!!!!!!!!!!) and glue sticks and more paper!!!! Yay!!!! We did Gymnastics with Miss BrochiDonald. We did Jumping! And Balancing! And Computer Science and Coding with Miss Stapleton! And we did Outdoor Learning with Miss McIntyre where we made dens with different Knots like a Timber Hitch! Yaaay!!!! It was fun, we are not being sarcastic!

yesterday me and my friends  where making friction and we got a bunch of sticks we lunched a shoe down and it worked the shoe didn’t move at all. Friction is where two things rub together and its cool to watch. And you get friction when you walk. your shoe is rubbing the floor and makes high friction

Hello ! This time learning at Holywood we are going to be doing a fair trade coffee afternoon and family’s are invited so are other people. The fair trade coffee afternoon will be set up for the 3rd of October 2018 !!! it will be so fun and we are going to be making fair trade cake and other foods with fair trade products you will get to try fair trade coffee.

big Thursday : last week we done big Thursday the first class was Art , in Art we were making paper sculptures with miss Jardine we made curly things , straight and zig zags. The next class was computer science with miss Stapleton we were doing coding on scratch it was really fun because you got to make backgrounds and do tricks , you should check out the website called scratch you can also get a app.

Forces, Light And Sound!

We have started a new topic with Miss Dale called Forces, Light And Sound! Right now we are learning about Friction and did lots of fun tests to determine what makes the Friction levels go UP and are soon to be learning how to make it go DOWN. Yesterday we got a wooden shelf and slid shoes down it to see how far they would travel, surprisingly, Kaylan’s indoor shoe went down the fastest on her, Jack and Orla’s experiment board. When we had finished that experiment we had to see how high up the board would go until the shoes slide down. On the THIRD test (I know so many tests!… But fun ones! 🙂 ) we had to put something on the wooden boards to make it go faster, Jack, Orla and Kaylan’s group put soap and water wen they were supposed to only do 1 thing and then Jack’s shoe went the fasted down and so did Miss Dales Clog, but Jacks shoe didn’t  go very high up for it to slide down. Only 23cm’s when on the second test it was 49cm-69cm high because we cant remember the exact heights. It was actually really fun!

Big Thursday And Business Groups!

We have started Business Groups and Big Thursday back up again and I think most people are happy about this. On Big Thursday Miss Stapleton is Teaching Computer Science And Coding, Miss Brochi-Donald is teaching P.E. (Gymnastics!), Miss Jardine (Not the Mrs Jardine that works on the office!) is teaching Art And Crafts and Miss McIntyre is teaching Outdoor Education/Learning! Last week was really fun so everyone is looking forward for this weeks.

For Business Groups there are only a couple of groups; Nature And Wildlife, Reading, Kiva-Good Behaviour, Fitness-WOW Group, Librarians and lots more fun groups! James, Kaylan, Dakota Lange and Kaitlyne are the Librarians for the Reading Hub and have to make sure it is really clean and there is no dirt and everything is spotless and we have to hoover and make sure all the books are away and plan events to get people reading and yeah, half of our stuff includes cleaning but I know some of the other groups have more cleaning than us to do.. *Cough, Cough Job’s Group Cough Cough…*

so today at school we did spelling and reading kensuke’s kingdom it’s about a family that buys a boat and they were travel around and they have a dog named Stella Artois and its black and white and it was cute. in maths we did sumdog and games and mental maths. we are learning about forces lights and friction its amazing.
