Microbes experiment

Hello, We did an experiment on microbes on Tuesday. The experiment was to see how fast mould would grow on different kinds of food. The way we did it was to not touch one piece of bread and that was the same for the other foods. We then dipped three pieces of bread into water. Then we rubbed the pieces of bread with water on them in different places like floors, walls and bins. We put them in air tight zip lock bags and wrote our names, the date and where we put the bread.Today we have just checked them and only one of them had a little bit of mould on the crust.

Mould experiment

In class we have been doing a science experiment called E.bug. The first experiment we did was a bread experiment where we got a slice of bread and put it in a bag with nothing in it. Then we got three slices of bread and put water on them and rubbed them on anything we want like the floor, bin, outside path and carpet. A week later we did an other experiment with cheese, bread, fruit and vegetables. At first we cut them in half and put one half in a bag with nothing in it and then wet the other half and put it in a bag to see which would go the most mouldy.

Friday!

Hi everyone. It’s Friday again!

Your new Health and Wellbeing task is on all learning pages. It has a World Book Day theme today.

I have also added an easy chocolate chip cookie recipe to the cooking club recipe page. You only need 4 ingredients for it and most of them you might already have at home.

Thank you for all your hard work in school, in the hub and at home this week! Have a good day Team Holywood. 🙂

BIG READ AND BOOK BLETHER

Morning Everyone!

This week in the BIG READ page on the blog I have added some EPIC book recommendations for our READ AROUND THE WORLD CHALLENGE. This week we are visiting India!

We have our BOOK BLETHER at 10am on the TEAM HOLYWOOD chat (the one with the leaf picture). Hope to see you there for some book chat and a game!

Hi! Caspian here.

Today I did some spelling and maths. We also went out to help Tanith with her bike riding skills. She did better than yesterday. I also did some work on famous walls of the past. (Around earlier than the 80’s.) Here are some facts:

  1. The Sacsayhuaman wall was built to save the city of Cusco in Peru from storms. It is in a puma shape.
  2. The Wailing Wall is a religious Jewish site.
  3. Hadrian’s wall stretched over England’s border and took 6 years to build. It was the Roman Emperor Hadrian who ordered it was built. Along the wall were Roman fortlets, forts and temples dedicated to various gods. There is temple of Mithras on the wall at Carraburgh.
  4. The walls of Ston are defensive walls in Croatia.
  5. The Vietnam memorial wall holds the names of those who died in the war.

That’s all! Bye!
