Wallace hall

last week from Wednesday to Friday all the P7s [apart from two] went to Wallace hall for p7 induction days. one of my favourite parts was actually the bus. I made a lot of new friends. My favourite subjects were P.E, information technology, design and technology and science. in design and technology we got to make key chains. In P.E we played a massive game of capture the flag our team won. in science we got to burn magnesium when it got hot enough it started glowing bright white. in maths we done colouring in. Well not  colouring in we had to find out how many patterns we could make with three colours [which i think is silly because i done that in primary two] we were going to do maths on the second day but we ended up doing health and well being which i found very boring. There was a photographer who came in the middle of health and well being to take a photo of our class so when we are leaving high school we can look back at it and see how much we changed! We had biology as well all that was is the teacher giving us a tour of the classroom and showing us were everything was. We also did a safety quiz and what the different danger/warning signs.

Gala day

last Friday we had a gala here at Holywood school my group was running a snack stall at the stall we were selling crisps , red cola , popcorn and candy floss. the money earned from all of the stalls was round about £800 [still counting]

residential

last week P5-7 went to Galloway activity centre from Monday to Wednesday and this is how it went.

DAY ONE

on the first day we did laser tag and archery in laser tag I hide behind a tree for half the game and got a ton of people out it was fun but the second round my gun didn’t even work. The teachers even joined in with laser tag! there was people who would just shoot you as soon as you got back in the game and i found that pretty annoying but i still had fun.  in archery I hit a bulls eye two times in a row then i was just able to hit the red and the blue part of the target after that. trying to get to sleep in a tent was horrible it was absolutely freezing i was that cold i went to sleep withe my jacket on with to sleeping bags and i was still freezing.

DAY TWO

in the morning i god woke up by someone singing at six o’clock in the morning! what i had for breakfast was toast with chocolate spread. after we had breakfast we had to get ready for water sports after that our group got split in two smaller groups some of us went to do paddle boarding the other half went to the big water slide. My group went to the big water slide only two people were aloud down at once when i  walked up to the start of the water slide i got soaked with freezing cold water by one of the members of staff it was quite fun he was also pouring massive 5 litre tubs of soap down the slide and and on some of the people going down the slide. we were there for about an hour then then the two groups switched over we had to go in partners for paddle boarding. It was quite hard to get on the board because as soon as you went to get on it it felt like it was going to fall over anyways when me and my friend both got on the paddle board it was really wobbly after we had got the hang of the boards we started heading into the deeper part of the loch then I dipped my paddle in the water and it didn’t touch the bottom! After water sports we went for lunch. after lunch my group went to the 3G swing the highest swing in Scotland it is 40 foot tall! as it was coming down I got a horrible feeling in my stomach.

Day at Wallace hall high

Yesterday me and most of the other P7s went for a transition day at Wallace hall high. I had to be at the bus stop by eight in the morning! When we got up to Wallace hall the school looked MASIVE! Our first class was PE it was very different to PE at Holywood we done capture the flag we done different type of fitness like push up’s ,press up’s and much more. After PE we done art we were drawing bugs in art and making loads of different patterns on them. in history we done history bingo it was ok but not the best. and then we done maths [it wasn’t as good as maths at holywood] anyways the time table challenge was quite fun we had to find classrooms that the teachers gave us.

Who’s monster is this? I bet you will never guess.  Do you recognise these monsters?

-Timothy  has a child on his head named George

-He has a long spiky tail.

-His tail and body is green and the tail spike and tongue are orange.

The rise of wolves

I have been reading the rise of wolves I have got two page 81 so far and it is a pretty good book i recommend it to people who like reading.  The main characters are Innis and Kat.  The three main events so far have been Innis spotting  a wolf  ,Innis telling us about his back story. And his granddad having Parkinson’s and going to an animal sanctuary with a very unfriendly owner who threatens Kat and Innis with a gun. the books chapters are very short but the book is still quite long.

microbes

recently at school we have been learning about microbes there are five types of microbes , bacteria ,virus, fungi, Archean and algae we are learning are only learning about fungi ,viruses and bacteria. Fungi is the biggest microbe and viruses are the smallest viruses are not free living the need another living living cell i order to survive bacteria is free living so they do not need a host to survive microbes are microscopic and cannot be see by the eye alone. bacteria lives every where in water in the air and even on your skin. most bacteria is harmless but some can cause disease.
