What P2/3/4 have been up to…

Hi everyone, it’s P2/3/4 here! We are going to tell you some of the things that we have been learning about.

We have been working on our spelling using Spelling workout and have done spelling quizzes. “I like playing noughts and crosses with other people in spelling” Liam. “My favourite thing is playing Hang the Ghost” Zara.

We have been reading lots of different reading books. Some of their names are- Billy’s Luck, Bats, Mitch to the Rescue and Rabbit’s Tale. “Our group has done true or false activities about our books- I like this” Anya. “My group made up a word search and drew a story board” Amy.  “My favourite thing from my group’s clipboard is doing the task sheet” Tayla-Mae.

In numeracy we have been learning about fact families, patterns, using Numicon and place value. Some of the activities we have done are- place value card and dice games, activities in our big number books, drawing numbers, using counters to make numbers and fact family street display. “I like doing activities in my big number book” Aria. “We have been playing dice game where we make the biggest or smallest numbers” Beth. “I like playing Sumdog on the laptops” everyone.

We have been learning about Victorian Scotland in IDL. We have been creating our own Victorian shops. Some of the shops are- a butcher, sweet shop, chemist and bakery. We are making items to go in our shops using junk modelling.  We looked at Victorian objects from the Museum and Library boxes. “One of our favourite things from the box was a cup to protect moustaches from liquids” Amy. “The hot water bottle was heavy” Zara. “We liked playing with the ball and cup game but it was hard, I got it in!” Isla W. We learnt about about Scottish inventors- Graham Alexander Bell, Alexander Fleming. We had an old Victorian school lesson with Mr Hughes. It was very different but it was fun!!

Thank you for reading our class blog post. Here are some photos of us doing Maths and IDL.

P4/5 have been working on their food technology skills. So far they have made- mini pizzas, rock buns and vegetable soup. They have enjoyed sampling their food!

life in the coal mine by tasnim and sevi

I can see lots of digging  in the coal mine and people  tripping over because of the rocks.  I can hear loud noises in my ears and deafening machines.I can feel stones on my hands and splinters. I can smell coal smoke metal and copper and wet or burning wood.  I can taste the disgusting food and mouldy pie.

The journey of food!

On Tuesday P4/5 were learning about the incredible journey that food goes on in our bodies. They did an activity with Mrs Jardine which helped them see what happens to food in the stomach and intestines. It was quite messy but lots of fun!
