Learning At Holywood This Week

This week we have been doing lots of new things to do with art, topic, music, P.E, writing and reading here is what we have been doing.

The first thing is writing. We have been split into three writing groups to write together. There are two teacher supported groups and an independent group. This week my group is with teacher support because last week we where unsupported. My group is Dylan, Mark, Zak, Isla, Cameron, Logan and Elliot. Just now we are writing about Santa and Death and at the end Death gets hit with an anvil! Don’t worry it is a kids animated short cartoon. Now we are on to Santa VS Death Round two!

For reading we have picked out novels to read. There are a few different ones here they are The Demon Headmaster, Bitter Chocolate, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Georges Marvellous Medicine and Kaspar Prince Of Cats. I am reading The Demon Headmaster. we where able to start doing the tasks on the task sheet yesterday.

Just now we are doing music with Mr Riddick. We are learning how to make our own music after watching a video called Everyone Can Be A Musician. We also watched an orchestra playing the theme tune to Pirates Of The Caribbean. I quite like doing music with Mr Riddick.

In art we are making our one Islamic style tile art and it is really hard! I like it though because we get to make  pretty patterns on the paper.

Our topic is Islam and I am finding it really interesting because I didn’t really know anything about I slam and Muslims before we started and now I know quite a bit more. We are making posters about Islam just now and our poster and other peoples are starting to look very neat and tidy.

In P.E coach Liam has came back for lets get sporty on a Wednesday morning after break. We had to go around in a circle and all do an action it got all our hearts pumping and we where all very tired afterwards.

As you can see, we have had a very busy week!

There was also a very steep hill and we all now feel sorry for the postman because every time you take a step you go up a metre. There also was singing rocks they sounded like they where whistling. There was also the great wall of china that a Chinese man videoed and said it lead him to Mongolia .

Christmas!!!

Well the holidays are over and we are all now back at school. Everyone is still wishing it was the holidays but now, we have to wait until this December which is still 11 months from now! This is my blog about Christmas. On Christmas we came downstairs at 5 o clock in the morning and opened our gifts. I loved all my gifts and I am really happy with what I got. One of my presents was a Pokémon tin and there where 4 packs of Pokémon in the tin. The best cards I got where Volcanian double-sided EX card and a Florges break card. I also got the new Wii-u came called Splatoon and a squid amibo. The other games we got for the Wii where Minecraft Wii-u edition and Minecraft story mode. Aidan got me a magic 8 ball and some quality streets. I also got the cool Nerf rebel bow. With my Christmas spending money I bought myself a camera and some other little things. My camera is a red polaroid and so far I have only taken 6 photos. My Christmas very fun.

Holywood Christmas Dinner

Today was Christmas dinner at Holywood and it was amazing. There where 2 choices of food to choose the roast chicken with sprouts, carrots, creamy mash potato, a tiny sausage, roast potatoes and gravy. The other choice was the vegetable parcel. Most people chose the roast chicken meal. Before we had the Christmas dinner we had a competition. We do the table decoration challenge every year and there is a trophy for the best table. This year there where lots of different designs there was a Santa’s grotto and a lot of North Poles! The winning team this year was Cameron and Gavin’s team. Making the decorations and bringing in the right things can be hard but it is still fun. After that we sat down to an enjoyable lunch with a cake. There was chocolate gueti, cherry cheescake, toffee cheescake and chocolate marshmallow browney.

The whole thing was fun and everyone enjoyed it and put a lot of effort in the decorations.

We have wrote letters to her and then made a card and wrote the letter inside it. We will really miss her and we hope she will have a good rest and put her feet up.

I am going to miss her very much and so will every one else!

For the last 13 years there  has been fighting in Iraq and people have been leaving the country. The fight is between the Iraqi government and a group called the Islamic State over wise know as the IS. With all this fighting still going on the children have managed to go back to school and start learning again. Some have only just left the country thinking that they won’t be able to ever go back but gradually they are going back to their country to be educated. It is still not safe enough though to go back and live there just yet.

Sixteen year old actor Auli’i Cravalho is doing the voice of character Moana. She said it was her first ever film and that she auditioned because she wanted to live her dream

If you have heard of toilet paper to get rid of body waste then how about you try some of the new stuff! A 61 year old man has made a way to make toilet paper out of poop. The animal this poop comes out of is a Chinese giant panda. There is a teacher who long ago retired working for him. She tests out the paper and she says that it smells just like bamboo.

This week a cat has been on a powerline pole for 9 days without any food or water local technicians had to come and rescue the cat and the owner was so happy to have him back she cried.

In California there has been a bubble cascade on the road! One of the pipes burst and it was full of bubbles! All we can say is the road will be very clean!

That’s all for today on Newsround so goodbye,

Newsround This Tuesday At Holywood

Today on Newsround:

  1. 2 famous Athletes that where bullied when they where young
  2. Giant sink hole in Japan
  3. Monitor Lizard in the Hotel
  4. Honey G
  5. Earthquake madness
  6. Snowballs on the beach

2 famous athletes who are famous for running where bullied when they where young because of there special talent for sports! The people that bullied them where probably just jealous of them for being so good!

Of course when you think sink hole you think of a giant hole in the ground but you don’t normally happen to think of the whole ROAD collapsing in! That’s right! The whole road collapsed in and everyone was shocked.

2 people who had just come back from a sunny day on the beach happened to go back to their hotel room and where surprised to find a Monitor Lizard in there bathroom. They lured it out with a piece of raw meat and just before it went out the door left a thank-you-for-letting-me-use-the-bathroom-in-your-kitchens surprised. Yes you saw right it did the toilet right there in the middle of the kitchen!

You might have watched the X-factor over the weekend and found out a new contestant and her name is Honey G! Lots of people said that acts where much better than her rapping and we watched and I have got to say… IT WAS TRUE!

in New Zealand people where told to flee the country because of an earthquake. The earthquake happened to bring a friend a long… A TSUNAMI! The Tsunami wrecked lots of things but so did the earthquake they cant come back any time soon though because the after- shock WILL be coming!

You might find it weird if you went to a beach and found lots of snowballs. It is caused by the wind blowing cold air and then blowing the warm air away.

That’s all for today!

The American Elections

This week has been a very busy week for over 18’s because of the US elections. It was between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. More people voted for Donald Trump than Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump is now the US  president! Most people are now very happy that Donald Trump is the new president but some are quite mad and quite sad. Donald will be visiting the White House so that he can become president in January 2017.

Children from school in the US and UK are saying what they felt about Trump being the new leader. Some people said that Donald Trump should be nice especially to women and some were saying that they where sad and also angry that he was most voted for.

Here are some views of Trump being president from the school.

Ryan- I would have liked Hillary Clinton to be president more than Trump because Hillary can be nice to everybody and would make a good president.

Kaylan- I think I would have voted for Hillary Clinton because Trump can be very unkind sometimes and Hillary Clinton is really nice.

Paul- Hillary Clinton should have won because he makes mean plans.

Kye- Hillary Clinton should have won because she is better and she is nice.

Sarah- Jane- Hillary Clinton because she has a good conscious and would be very nice.

Hamish- Hillary Clinton should have won because she would have had good plans.

Miss Dale- it would have been very difficult to decide if I where American.

Gavin- I am very happy Donald Trump won because he is cool.
