Mental Health and Wellbeing.🧠

Hi Everybody,

This week is as well as national storytelling week is children metal wellbeing week, so I’ve doing mental health friendly activities during lockdown. Here are some of the things I’m doing that are connected to the 5 ways to wellbeing:

  • Connect with others: I have a call with some of my best friends every week, we play games and use filters to make each other laugh.
  • Be active: I do ring fit (a fitness game) every other day as well as dog walking everyday.
  • Take note/mindfulness: I do mindfulness in the mornings. we have been using an app called Headspace and we do one of their guided mediations for kids. but sometimes I fall asleep in them
  • Learn: I school work every week day (even if i don’t want to)
  • Give: I have been baking cakes and treats for the neighbours (they love them).

I have also been thinking about what makes me feel happy and one of the things that I enjoy is drawing and this month I have been taking part in Febcreate – run by a local art group I am part of,  they give you a prompt work every day and you have to do a drawing of it. All the prompts are Scottish words so sometime I have to google them first but it links to ‘Bad Broonie’. Anyone can take part so you can join in if you want to

Bye

  1. Hi Joe,
Your happy picture made me smile, Beans is very cute. How old is Beans now? Dogs are good for getting you out walking, as you say.

Fantastic that you have been doing lots to keep your mental health and well-being positive. I think your drawings in response to the Scots words are great. Thanks for sharing the list in case anyone else wanted to join in.

Can you give an example of what you have been doing for your mindfulness?

I think your neighbours will be very happy that you are delivering baking to them – they will be pleased to see you, as well as the cakes, Joe. 🙂

  2. Hi Joe, It’s so important to look after your mental health as well as your physical health so it’s great you have found lots of ways to do this. Thank you for posting your ideas on the blog – lots of ideas for others to try too. Your artwork is brilliant Joe! I know how much you love drawing so what a great idea to take part in a daily drawing challenge! Awwwwww, how cute is Beans in this pic! I suppose one of the positives of lockdown is getting to spend more time with him!
