How To Separate Salt,Sand,Rice And Stones.

MATERIALS: Salt,Sand,Rice,Stones,beakers,Sieve,Funnel,Pipette,Containers,Plate,Pot and water.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Firstly pick out all of the stones and place them in a container.

secondly to separate the sand the rice sieve the sand and salt onto a plate.

Next put the rice in a beaker using a funnel. Be careful not to drop anything.

After that get hot water and put it in a container. Put the sand and salt inside of the container containing hot water. Doing this will dissolve the salt and allow the sand and salt to separate.

Penultimately  Separate the sand from the salt water(keep the salt water) Put the sand in a beaker.

Finally put the salt water in a pot boil the saltwater. This will leave a residue the residue will be salt. Funnel the salt into beaker.

Karate Awards

KONNICHIWA! Last night the first junior karate awards were given out, and everyone had aced the test, especially Rhona, who got yellow AND orange belt at the same time. I would have got orange belt too, but I messed up at some points during the test. Only 5 people came to karate last night, whereas there were 22 on the first week.

It’s nice to know some people still came, though. BYE!

. testing tube holder

. plastic tubs

. Siv

. salt

. rocks

. sand

. rice

. water

first separate the rocks with your hands and put a plate under it so you don t  wast your materials.

second with the siv separate rice from the salt and sand.

third with a tub put the sand and salt in water

forth put the salt water in a hot pan

firth put the sand in a testing tub

sixth put the salt in a testing tub

science

Hi its Jullien and I am going to talk about Friday when we had science and i was in a team with Kohdie and we made a big mess but at the begin, Miss dale mixed rocks, sand, rice, salt and we needed to separate all of that together so the easiest part was the little rocks and the rice but the salt is pretty difficult so we tried to add water into the sand and salt and we putted a coffee filter over a cup and drained the salt water into the cup and if you cook it the salt sticks too the bottom of the pan.

Separation

Last Week with Miss Dale we did science and she mixed up sand rocks salt and rice we have to separate them all and put them in to separate jars I was partners with Jullien I am going to show you how we did it

1: Me and Jullien started by getting a cup full of all of the stuff we then put it in hot water for 20 seconds. we then  picked out the rocks and put them in a separate jar.

2:We then found out that we accidentally disintegrated the salt. after that we then got a chive and put the sand and rice on it with hot water

3: we then got all of the rice and left over sand and put them in  separate  glass jars. so we got most of it done with a lot of mess.

Material Separation

Last week in science, Miss Dale mixed together sand, salt, rocks, and rice, and told us we had to separate it into it’s core materials.

  1. First, pick out the rocks and put them into a safe place.
  2. Secondly, sieve the rice out of the sand and salt.
  3. Then, pour the sand/salt into a jug and add some water, this will dissolve the salt.
  4. Afterwards, filter the water into a separate jug/tube and get the water out of the sand.
  5. Penultimately,  leave the saltwater to evaporate.
  6. Finally, place all the materials on the table or wherever you’re doing the experiment.

geologist……

  1. A geologist came in the school and brought fossils and gems.
  2. This is my favourite  one   -it is a massive dinosaur head / skull.  This is a baby one!!

3. The geologists name is David. He brought some special stones. One of the stones had oil trapped in it. You could smell it!

Everyone liked the talk.  Thank you!

Geology….

On Friday, A geologist came to the school who worked at oil rigs, etc, He brought oil, skulls of old dinosaurs (Mosasauras) Although, the Mosasauras was a Child/Teen water-puppy,

oil rocks fossil

David  came to the school and he told us what his job is and he said that he has worked in a lot of oil rigs. You go on a helicopter or boat if you go on a boat you have to go on a basket that you hang on to it and a Crain lifts it up and helicopter you just land on a helicopter pad. If its very windway everybody has to get off the oil rig. H e has oil rocks from thousands of meter under ground there was amethyst crystal and a  10 year old mosasaurs when it was alive now its 82 to 66 million years old. The older ones owned the sea when they were alive.
