We had a toad in the hall on Friday – not an actual toad but Toad the storyteller.
We met Toad last November at the Crichton when he told us myths about the Totem Latamat.
On Friday, he told us stories about giants, rabbits and trolls. Some of the stories were funny, others were meant to be scary. We joined in the stories by opening imaginary boxes hidden in caves in tunnels.
Toad used a tambour and a finger piano for sound effects like footsteps and for changing the pace of the story – he beat faster for running and slower for walking.
We went outside and used numbers ti collect ideas for our stories. 5 crows watching from the sky. 3 powerlines giving us electricity. Then we made story landscapes which popped up.
My story has a path which has a sign which you choose death or whether to live.
Kye’s story has cottage in the woods an inside has a vampire.
Kye enjoyed the day, I felt that the stories were good but the afternoon needed to faster to hold our interest.
