Wellerman

Hello, Tanith and Caspian here.

(Tanith’s Area) Today we have been listening to Wellerman, I love it so much its a really cool song and one remix video has a white cat moving it’s head to the rhythm. We have learnt all the types of the song.  Mama and Mark learnt the song with us. We also learnt how to keep rythmn by tapping our feet and clapping. I like the first version best as it is how it was meant to be.

(Caspian’s Area) Hi! We have been listening to the Wellerman song that became a huge colab on TikTok. The origin of this shanty is where a crew was trying to capture a whale to sell it for sugar tea and rum. Apparently the whale did not let go or give in to the harpoon rope and the crew are still chasing it to this day.  We also researched how shanties came into being. They are working songs used on sailing ships to help the sailors work and stick to a rhythm. I like the remix best as it is a more modern version.

(Tanith)Goodbye everyone see you next time smile every day stay safe and happy bye!

  3. I like that you both have a different favourite but have a good reason for either choice. Lovely that the family learned together too!
