I did some sum dog but it was spelling. I also did these two sheets on fractions.
I’ve just finished watching the perfect planet episode on oceans. They mentioned the arctic and how its melting and changing the way the oceans work. This will affect the animals.
I watched the video about the school in the arctic and I wrote this about it.
The school in the Arctic had a building similar to school buildings in this country. There was lots of snow on the ground at the Arctic school. In Scotland we only get snow now and again. The snow in the Arctic makes it tricky and hard to get to school. The video showed people running and walking to school. The teacher said she was happy when they made it to the school. I noticed the wheels on the school buses were big snow wheels. We are lucky in Scotland that we don’t have to worry about driving in bad weather very often and if we walk in bad weather its usually only rain.
The teacher said she likes to do a lot of outdoor learning. I think that is like Holywood because we do a lot of outdoor learning. I also noticed they have a gym in their school. I want a gym in Holywood!
I’d like to have a go at going to the school in the Arctic because I love snow and there was lots of it.

Hi Rory, It sounds like you have learned lots of interesting facts from watching the video. I also like the idea of having a gym in school! Think we would need to build an extension first…or maybe set up a gym in the marquee?? Lets keep our fingers crossed we get some snowy weather here soon!
A school gym is a great idea Rory, Mrs. Jardine is right though, not sure where we would put it, you’ll need to plan that for us. It’s great that watching Perfect Planet tied in to what you have been learning about in your topic work.
Ooh imagine having to run to school through the snow. I’m glad we don’t have to deal with that too often, although some good snow for some sledging would be fun.
