Hi everyone,
it is 1,800 miles from Dumfries to Svalbard and it takes the geese 36 hours to fly the route. we worked out what it would take if I did the journey. we did this in 2 different ways.
I need 1,800 calories per day as a 11 year old boy. so if I travelled for 36hours would need 2700 calories….or …..
- 8.43 slices of peperoni pizza
- 28.42 fredo frogs
- 48.6 falafels
- 87.09 red peppers
That would be if I caught a plane for 36 hours. But if I ran 1,800 miles and burnt an average of 100 calories per mile I would need 180,000 calories.
- 562.5 slices of peperoni pizza
- 1894.73 fredo frogs
- 3243.24 falafels
- 5806.45 red peppers
I think I’ll catch a plane.
BY JOE!!!😑🍕🧆🍫🐸
Wow Joe! So impressed with your problem solving, your research skills and your maths. Excellent work. Definitely bonus points to you! You have shown us how much energy it takes for the geese migration – they are amazing.
Well done, Joe!
Awesome work Joe!
I would take the plane and some of those fredo frogs!
Oof that looks hard xD
That’s brilliant Joe. I’m with Mrs Fraser, save me some pizza for the plane!
Fantastic facts and problem solving Joe!
Mmmm Freddo frogs! Not sure I could eat that many though!
Great calculations Joe!
Miss Dale, I can totally all 1894 Fredo frogs in one sitting but I can’t run 1800 miles in one go.
This is amazing Joe! It made me laugh thinking about all of that food… Great maths work!
