Woodpeckers

Hi all, Caspian here!

Today I did some facts about woodpeckers and a business card for the play Julius Caesar. I also highlighted in my book how I would like t change the story. I decided to make Julius listen to his wife and not go out to get murdered. Also I did some woodpecker facts and here they are!

  1. They have strong bills for pecking out nests in trees.
  2. They have very long tongues.
  3. Their brain is small to avoid brain damage from pecking.
  4. Woodpecker skulls inspired bike helmets.
  5. They can peck 30 times per second.
  6. They close their eyes when pecking to avoid debris.
  7. Their nose is specially designed to avoid debris getting in it.
  8. They cannot be found in Australia.
  9. The imperial woodpecker is extinct.
  10. 32 woodpecker species are found in India.
  11. I saw a red crested woodpecker in the woods.

I also have some more god facts for you!

  1. Apollo was the god of music, light and healing.
  2. Aurora was the goddess of the dawn.
  3. Bellona was the goddess of war.
  4. Cupid was the god of love.
  5. Vulcan was the god of fire and blacksmiths.

Rom-Halan! (Vulcan for goodbye) I am running out of aliens to translate. This is very bad.

Northern Lights Holiday

Hello its me Tanith,

I am very sorry that I didn’t do a blog yesterday, I fell asleep before I did one. I looked at a lot of holidays in the Arctic and decided to go and see the northern light in a snowcat with my family. I drew a picture of the northern lights and of my family where we are all looking up to the sky. The trip lasted 3 hours and it was magical. We all want to go back to see them again.

Today I have done some spelling and some noughts and crosses with my mama. I have also done some maths in my book and sumdog. We had a lovely walk in the woods when it was snowing. I hope we get hot chocolates tonight.

Love from Tanith xxx

In the hub today we have been…

…making goose hats and wings

We hope you have all had a fun and busy day too!

Things I’ve been up to

Hello everyone! Its Cleo. I hope your all getting on well and having a great time. Anyways onto what I’ve been getting up to.

I did the Star Wars apostrophe PowerPoint. Then I wrote my own piece about my favourite film. Here is what I wrote.

My favourite movie is Coraline. The movie Coraline is about a girl who moves to a new house. Coraline’s parents are always busy with work. She has to entertain herself. She finds a secret door and decides to go check it out but there’s a brick wall behind it. At night when she’s sleeping she is awoken by a noise. She sits up and sees mice and they take her to the door, which is now no longer bricked up… If you want to know what’s next, I advise you watch the movie. It’s great! I like the movie because it’s got a bit of a creepy vibe to it and I’m obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED with button eyes. There’s just something amazing about button eyes. There’s a lot of button eyes involved in the film.

I also read the Scottish Graphic novel, I then did the Scottish word task. Here are the sentences I came up with.

Do you ken where the shop is?

Please could you take the bairnie to school?

My cat Zorro was too feart to fight our other cat Jasper.

I took my snochter-dichter out my pocket to blow my nose.

The popular girls were haiverin about other people’s business.

Our mantis are all numpties when it comes to taking them out.

If you staun up straight in rollerblades you start rolling backwards.

The boy blootered the ball across the football pitch.

For children’s metal health week what we did was draw 6 boxes and Mummy would give us an emotion. First we would pick a colour that we connected with that emotion, then we would have to write that emotion down. She gave us 2 minutes and we would have to draw a picture about that emotion. After 2 minutes was up we talked about what we drew and what that feeling or emotion meant to us. Here is what I drew.

I need to do some maths to finish off. That’s all for today. Hope you all have a fantastic week and stay safe!

Barnacle geese

I just spent half a hour writing about geese but it deleted I’m sad.

Barnacle geese have their name because on the coast of scotland there are barnacles that look a gooses head . In the olden days people thought this was where the geese came from so thats what they called them.

When they are eating they can pack 200 times a minute. They mate for life so that means they are like girlfriend and boyfriend forever.

You can see them st caerlaverock in Dumfries, I think we went there on a school trip.

Today  I watched a film called fly away home. You can hire it on Amazon prime for like 3.49. I rate it 4.5 out of 5.

It is about a girl with orphan geese. The geese need to migrate but they dont know where to go because they have no mum to show them.  The girls dad builds her s plane so she can take them south they follow her because they think she is their mum. Every year they fly back and land by her porch.  Its a true story and it is really good.

Work I’ve been doing

Hi everyone
I did maths. First I did the blocks where you have to write in half. Im getting the hang of halves and quarters. I also did Sumdog.
I’ve read Cinderella and prince cinders and done some tasks.
Prince Cinders versus Cinderella.
Same.
The main characters  are both mistreated.
The main characters both met someone at a event.
A fairy arrived for both main characters.
Both main characters have to tidy up and clean.
Both main characters lost a bit of clothing.
Both main characters had siblings.
They both have a happy ending.

Different.
Prince cinders was a boy and Cinderella was a girl.
The magic in Cinderella was good and in Prince Cinders the magic was bad.
Cinderella went to a ball and cinders went to a disco.
The fairy that helped cinders was a bit scruffy the fairy that helped Cinderella was neat and tidy.
Cinders  had a toy car for transport Cinderella had a pumpkin carriage.
cinders lost his trousers and Cinderella lost a shoe.
Prince Cinders had brothers and Cinderella had sisters.

I preferred Prince Cinders because it was a bit funny. Cinderella is more serious.

Reading Comprehension.
1. Prince Cinders was washing the socks.
2. Prince Cinders has 3 siblings.
3. The fairy fell down the chimney on saturday night.
4. Prince cinders brothers are big and hairy and mean.
5. When prince cinders arrived at the disco he couldn’t fit through the door.
6. Prince cinders ran away from princess lovely penny because he was shy.
7.  Prince cinders brothers got turned into cleaning fairys.

Today we did a task for children’s mental health week. We were told a feeling. We had to pick a colour that reminded us of that feeling and then we had 2 minutes to draw a picture that made us think of that feeling. Once the 2 minutes was over we’d talk about our picture and the feeling and when we might feel like that.

bye everyone see you soon😊

Prince Cinders and Fractions

Today I did my words first.  I then listened to Prince Cinders again and answered the questions.

I also did fractions, some were tricky.

I then typed my blog

Yesterday on my walk there was so much rubbish lying about, my little sister kept asking why it wasn’t in a bin!
