Wednesday 13th January

Hi everyone, we forgot to post yesterday so here are a few photos.

I have been busy doing alot of reading on Epic. I have read quite a few books now and then mum tests me at the end. I like doing the quiz at the end too.

I have been on Sumdog and I played maths games on BBC Bitesize which was good.

We have been walking and playing badminton in the garden. I got a go kart for christmas so I have been on that aswell.

Tomorrow we are going to make a chocolate cake.

Here us my drawing of BOBBY the polar bear and 5 interesting facts.

Long Legs and Little Legs

In school today the children made some awesome 3D polar bears. I’m hoping that any that went home can be photographed for the blog, as we didn’t get chance to take photos. (Some are still drying before they can be painted.) Some of the children had fun on Sumdog and we were all super impressed with Mena’s video .  There was lots of EPIC reading.  Co-operative work has begun on a  life size polar bear model.

This afternoon we went for a walk.  The children did a great job taking account of those with long legs and those with little legs. Azari found some red and green berries. We had a chat about where all the holly berries have gone. There were some ideal trees for climbing. I hope you enjoy the photos, some were taken by Daniel and by Findlay and some by me. .

Today!

Hello everyone
Today I started out with the algebra powerpoint in the home learning. I actually got the hang of it pretty quickly and really enjoyed doing it.
I then did some Sumdog followed by some Epic. I started a book called The Revenge of The Shadow King.
After lunch I read some of my book about mythical beasts that I received for Christmas.

I then chose a couple of beasts to focus on and do extra research. I then wrote out some facts about them.

Bunyip

In Australia in deep waterholes lies Bunyips. Bunyips are evil mythical spirits that lure people or animals and devours any person or creature. People started making these legends when they heard blood-curdling cries.

Banished Spirit…

Australian people include this creature in their dreams. According to one of the myths, there was a tribesman who disobeyed the rules about how living things should live, which the rainbow snakes decided. Biami, the good spirit, punished him. He was banished from the tribe. Biami also told other tribes to stay away from him. The tribesman got so angry he became an evil spirit and they called him Bunyip. He would roam the earth at night bringing gloom and fear to all tribes. He would also devour people on the way especially women and children.

… Or a Prehistoric Hippo?

40,000 years ago there was a plant-eating marsupial around the size of a rhino living in Australia. It was known as a Diprotodon. It would live near water and graze on shrubs and grass. People have been wondering if these creatures evolved into hippo-like marsupial which the tribespeople saw and feared.

They have a dog-like face, walrus-like tusks or horns and dark fur.

Dragons

At least every continent has its own tale of scaly, serpent-like creatures.

Ryu

The Ryu is a Japanese dragon. It has three claws but no wings. It lives beneath the sea and controls rain and stormy weather. It gifts wishes to those brave enough to find one.

Kuh Billaur

The Kuh Billaur dragon came from Persia. Brave Ali killed a serpent dragon by piercing it with his sword. People feared dragons throughout the Middle East. In ancient times, apparently, a dragon swallowed the moon when a lunar eclipse occurred. People made loud noises with bells so the creature could release the moon.

Fafnir

This dragon lives in Norse/Germany. Fafnir was the son of dwarf king Hreidmar. He tried stealing his father’s treasure, so he was killed by Sigurd. In northern European myths, dragons were a symbol of greed.

Lastly  I thought I’d share some mantis pictures since Miss Dale mentioned them yesterday. Today’s mantis I’m sharing is called Lettuce. She is a Rhombodera Stalli (Shield Mantis). Mantis keepers prefer you to use the scientific name as lots of mantis share the same general name. Lettuce is a fully grown adult female, so she has her wings. However females don’t really fly at all. Females also have a longer lifespan.

Hope everyone has had a good day 🙂
Bye for now!

Walk

i went a walk and we saw a tractor . we had fun we climbed  trees . we hope  you  have fun.

Polar bears and other things.

Hi everyone.
Miss Dale wanted to know why Proboscis Monkeys are one of my favourite animals. I really love all monkeys, but the reason  I like them the best is because of the honking sound they can make with their funny nose.
Today I started with my 3 and 4 times tables. My Mum wrote out the tables in random order for me to fill in and answer. It was tricky at first then I got into the swing of it once my memory kicked in.
I then went on to do some Sum Dog. Then onto Epic reading – there is a book on there called Okay Andy and it always makes me laugh because it says bears say “snork!”
After lunch I did the quick reading about female pirates. I found it interesting because I like pirates and I managed to get all the questions on it right.
I then watched a video about Polar Bears. I then drew a picture, which I made into a poster with facts about Polar Bears.

Just finishing the day with a bit of quiet reading from the book by Tom Fletcher called The Christmasaurus. I got it last year for Christmas, but haven’t read it yet.

Bye for now
Rory.

Home News

Hi. Its Caspian.

As part of my schoolwork today, I had to find the most interesting news story in my house. To be honest, the most interesting thing is Netflix. But that’s not to write about. I have multiple articles, so be prepared to fall asleep.

A Man Of Antwerp by Mark Montgomery

Mark Montgomery’s latest book A Man Of Antwerp’s formatting is nearly done and according to the editor it should be out by next week.

Grey Cat Behind The Sofa

As I said, it’s boring but it makes me feel happy to see Ludo, my grey cat behind the sofa playing. I find it humorous.

Water Bottle Mania

My sister has a very odd desire for water. The second one bottle is half empty she goes and gets another one. In case there is a zombie apocalypse, we will ration our supplies. And if that water gets drank in one day, we’re feeding her to the zombies.

Piggy Intercity

Piggy Intercity is expected to come out around Friday or Saturday. The lowdown of it is that you will be able to create a custom character and use it to fight off infected and gather supplies. I find that it is going to be the best part of Piggy yet!

Okay you’re welcome for the news, now I have to get back to school.

Raaaaawwwrrrr (Anyone could guess it’s Wookie)

Esmae’s blog

Hi everybody today I have been doing reading Romeo and Juliet and finding the meanings for some of the words from the story. The story is about this man called Romeo who has a big crush on  a girl called Juliet and fall in love, but there families don’t like each other so Romeo and Juliet can’t be together. I also learned a bit of algebra, it was a bit tricky to start with, I think I got the hang of it.  By Esmae.

Polar Bear Project

Hello Team Holywood,

How is everyone? I hope that you are all well.

Today l done some research on polar bears. I found some amazing facts and things I didn’t know about them. It’s fascinating that their fur is actually clear though the snow makes it look white.

Bye! Oriana
