Medicine for Big Al the Allosaurus

Today I enjoyed writing out my medicine for Big Al the Allosaurus, he had a broken claw.  It took ages but mum helped me put all the words together that I had picked.

Also wrote out my words and did some adding up, I’m getting really quick at adding sums but take away takes me more time.

We are doing a little reading each day , the book I’m reading is ‘the first hippo on the moon’

Today

Hello everyone! Today I’ve made a terrarium. The other day we got some more plants from my granny. After that I did my five a day and then went sumdog. My mum is also going to give me some other things on maths. Then I will do spelling. I’m not sure what i’m going to be doing in it yet. Then my mum will give me a few things to do about Japan. I will do a bit more about polar bears. After that I will go on the on the teams thing. I will do the thing that I’ve not finished after. By Orla.

Tea cup solution!!!

This is Bailey and Olivers cup and saucer solution, it took some time and we had to restart a few times and finally when we had one last square left we knew we did it. We where talking about how long it took it was about 15-20 minutes and it was difficult about where we put the cups on saucers.

By Bailey and Oliver.

Noah worked hard to solve the teacup challenge.

Do you agree with his solution?

He also said it was fun!!  What?!?!  Learning fun…

Thanks Noah,

Miss Dale

the Inuit people.

Hi Everybody,

Today and yesterday I have been learning about the Inuit people. and how they live in the polar climate. Here is a picture of were some of the Inuit communities are. There are four different groups stretching across northern Canada, Alaska and Greenland. Did you know the word Eskimo might be an indigenous word meaning raw meat eaters given to them by people south of were the Inuit live but there are a few different theories.

Inuk means one Inuit person, Inuuk is the the word for two Inuit people  and Inuit describes the people who live in Canada and Alaska. The people in Greenland call themselves Kalaallit.

I have also learnt about there culture and traditions like an inukshuk here’s a picture. They are used to point the way home if your lost.

Now I haven’t learnt about the Inuit alphabet but I think it looks like star wars writing so I’ve included a picture.

See you, Joe

My happy photo!

Hi everyone. This is my happy photo for today. My friend kindly bought me these beautiful flowers and I am enjoying looking at them as I am working at home. I hope you are all having a good week of home learning so far.

Music from the Arctic

Good morning, hope everyone is well.

I read Caspian’s last blog post with interest as I had not heard of Mongolian heavy metal. So I looked it up and played some for my family and one of my boys said, “Isn’t that The HU?” Apparently he is already quite keen on Mongolian heavy metal, I just didn’t know! The HU is a Mongolian heavy metal band.

Anyway, the reason I wanted to look it up (apart from Caspian’s recommendation) was because as I have been learning about the Arctic I have learnt that some tribes from the Arctic also use the throat singing, or growling, method. This is not compulsory to watch, but if you are interested this video tells you how to do the throat singing and also mentions the drums which are used. Drumming and dancing is popular with the Arctic people.

Thanks for taking our learning further, Caspian. I have to say, like Tanith, the heavy metal is not all to my taste, but the throat singing is interesting how it mirrors the sounds of nature.

Mongolian Throat Growls

Hi all, Caspian is back!

My happiness picture is of Idris in the woods today but she kept bouncing around so the picture is blurry. She is a really funny and cute dog and we always have a great time on our walks. We are still doing our mile a day challenge, we even did it in the rain at the weekend.

First this morning I did some algebra. Then my spelling today focussed on one word in particular. I can finally spell DISAPPEAR!!!!!!!! Mum gave me three challenges to help me remember the spelling. First I speed wrote disappear as many times as I could in one minute. Then I wrote five sentences with the word disappear. Finally, I created a wordograph.

Next I did the letter ink blots. Followed by French. The exercise with the animal sounds is wrong as it says pigs oink in French and also groin in French. The first French should have been English. Mum said I had a keen editorial eye. Also in the word search, I found that cheval stands for goats cheese. I finished on 5 a day. I had to do all my workings out as Mum realised my last lot were done with a calculator. Oops, I was caught, sorry!!

After Tanith’s calm club, Mark introduced us all to Mongolian tribal heavy metal music. Mum, Mark and me created a tribal dance to the beat of the music but Tanith didn’t like it so didn’t join in. It is nothing like the songs she writes or likes. I thought the heavy metal was cool and really different.

Ciao!
